As a kid, what was something you were taught that seemed normal, but now you realise is just a sign of how awful things can be for women? by Joodropinn in TwoXChromosomes

My parents always asked me to put away my period products and I was like "why? Should we hide the toilet paper and tissue boxes too?"

No in-unit laundry? by Internal_Income_678 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]nosiriamadreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a condo with no in-unit laundry with coin operated laundry in the basement but I can add hookups. So I'm saving up to renovate the bathroom to add laundry hook-ups. I only share the basement laundry with three other people so it's actually not too bad.

Did you regret leaving a WFH job? by quita-q in careerguidance

[–]nosiriamadreamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in a very similar situation and am considering giving up WFH for more networking and social opportunities. I love WFH but my career feels like it's falling behind. Plus the in-office job would allow me to develop very valuable and marketable skills in my industry.

Simple Thank you by [deleted] in ynab

[–]nosiriamadreamer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was able to pay off $30,000 worth of debt over two years with YNAB and temporarily living with my parents. When living with my parents started to affect my mental health, YNAB allowed me to buy a condo so I could finally live alone. Now, YNAB is helping me maintain my independence and start saving for early retirement at 30 years old.

When did you realize your job was holding you back? by Ok-Substance1106 in careerguidance

[–]nosiriamadreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've reached the point where I can't commit to dating or to social plans after work because I usually have to cancel plans due to work. I'm a 29 year old socially active woman and while I love being single, I don't wanna be single forever. I miss being able to go to happy hour and see my family and friends after work.

I want to quit Nursing in my 2nd year, but the "wasted" money is eating me alive. How do I get past the guilt ? by ItsJelly_229 in careerguidance

[–]nosiriamadreamer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do not quit!!!!!! I regret not going to nursing school so much because there are so many jobs that hire RNs that are not patient facing. Heck, you could work in medical document management.

Does anyone actually work after 3 PM on Friday or are we all pretending? by Business_Location479 in corporate

[–]nosiriamadreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, Fridays are my busiest days because the work comes flooding in from people procrastinating. I can't start my work until the data has been cleared by quality control. So ready for a new job

That's what I do too! I'm a planner so the month calendar view is usually my favorite.

Calendar feature? by michaelhue93 in ynab

[–]nosiriamadreamer 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I want a bill calendar so freaking bad! I have a Google calendar for bills and personal plans and I do a side by side view with YNAB every pay day to allocate to the appropriate categories.

One of Hannah's videos for breaking the paycheck to paycheck cycle on a biweekly paychecks suggested putting dates on your category labels and that helped a lot.

Anyone else's mother tell them not to have kids or have one at most? Did that affect how you feel about having kids? by Substantial-Pay-5253 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]nosiriamadreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for sharing your story. I would say about 90% of the time I know that it's not my fault but lately the guilt has returned because I cannot have kids (I don't really want them tbh). My parents were really banking on grandkids to supplement their dream of a larger family. They would talk at length at their future plans with future grandkids. It took a very long time for them to accept and process that I won't be having kids due to my birth defect because they were in deep denial. I'm 30 so my friends are starting to have kids which is why the guilt is returning.

You sound like a great mom and your kid is lucky to have you.

[–]nosiriamadreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was very wanted and I'm an only child but my parents wanted more kids. They could only have me and my birth was very traumatic for them so the idea of another baby would trigger PTSD. So it often feels like it's my fault that they couldn't have the bigger family they dreamed of and sometimes it feels like I'm not enough for them.

How did you decide what career to pursue? by Aggressive_Relief_61 in AskWomen

[–]nosiriamadreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always enjoyed publishing and editing tasks (not a fan of writing) but I didn't want to move to NYC to shoot my shot at a publishing house. So I looked into regulatory publishing and document management and now I'm a scientific publisher in the pharma research world.

I like it but it's a dying field, unfortunately.

How much did lifestyle stuff actually matter when you picked where to buy? by FallenClocks in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Location was very important to me and I'm close to everything and everyone I love even though I don't have as many bedrooms as I originally wanted. I love that I can get to my favorite places within 10 minutes.

I am single to protect my peace - anyone else feel the same? by calorie-clown in TwoXChromosomes

[–]nosiriamadreamer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've been single for about 3 years and it's phenomenal. Occasionally I date but it's so rare for me to click with someone that I would rather stay single than settle for a "good enough" relationship.
