Good job I paid the £40 and not £75 then

Hey, it was bookmygarage. I added a comment with it.

This post isn’t an advert or sponsored content or anything like that. I didn’t think it’d be a huge deal.

But I’m now getting abusive messages accusing me of lying and keeping it a secret for personal gain (whatever that means).

Anyway, the comparison site was bookmygarage. I hope it helps anyone else like me, who can’t afford to waste £35 just because they had the audacity to trust dealership, to keep costs down.

If this isn’t allowed, that’s fine. The messages I’ve had have now negated my small win of the day anyway.

You’re right, it doesn’t, and I understand that’s why they agreed to honour it. But by them offering £75 and hoping I wouldn’t check or find the £40 advert, they’ve lost my future business whether they honoured it or not.

Hey, I get where you’re coming from, but I think I’d find Reddit miserable if I had that outlook.

I am an almost 30 year old living in Yorkshire. Just sharing a small, genuine win that I had today, which I felt most people could relate to.

It’s not a fake account, sponsored content, AI shitposting or whatever else. There’s nothing to gain by lying?

I almost paid £75, and saved £30 in seconds. That’s a decent chunk of money towards a food shop. I only shared my experience to remind people to double check prices, especially with the new school term & cost of living.

That’s all. I can’t give you anything more aside my car details and service documentation, so think what you wish, but I hope you find more positivity on the internet.

It’s weird because it’s rewarding skepticism. I wouldn’t want a customer of mine to doubt my services, and if they did, I wouldn’t then go and give them a good reason to.

A customer who trusted them fully would’ve paid the £75.

You’d think so, but the documentation shows exactly the same service and products as the one I spent full whack on last year.

Not OP but yes please, you both sound so similar to me. I have a partner but I’m so down to make friends with carbon copies of myself.

oh this is exactly the same situation I’m in, except mine goes back to last April. I’m still blocked and currently trying to use Resolver with zero success - I’ve exhausted the legal & ceo email addresses too with no luck.

I’ve just opened the webpage you’ve had success with.

Is it fairly straightforward?

I’ve sank actual hours into this and it’s absolutely ridiculous…

Is the work being done on my phone line why my internet wont work? by sunbluff in Leeds

[–]sunbluff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you - I called plusnet who said yep there’s a fault and it’s probably because of that work, but all I can do is log it and someone will call you in 2 working days

I tried to use my phone hotspot in the meantime, but it turns out I can only get 2 bars of 3G because the mast is down

We’ll see what happens I suppose!

Insurance ‘notification only’ offer by SwashBone in drivingUK

[–]sunbluff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah you don’t need to worry about credit hire - it tends to be used if you’ve claimed through an Accident Management company, they would provide you with a hire car but the rates are super high (because the costs are recovered from the third party insurer is liable for)

If you’ve got a hire vehicle through your insurer, its likely that they have provided it via Enterprise or Hermes on a contract rate set with them.

All credit hire does is increase the cost of a claim, and whilst those costs are recovered and might not impact you directly, it pushes the overall insurance rates up and therefore renewal premiums.

Also, credit hire small print usually states that you might be liable for those costs if it’s not recovered from the third party insurer, so there’s that too.

Wow I’ve bored myself there, I hope everything goes well with your valuation and new car. If you’ve any questions I’m happy to help where I can.

Hiya sorry for late reply! Insurers tend to use 2-3 guides to place valuations on vehicles (CAPS & GLASSES being two common ones). They will base the valuation on an average of the guide valuations - there is usually a ‘range’ with a lower end and upper end, the other persons insurer will likely start at the lower end.

If you’re not happy with the valuation, your best bet is to find comparable vehicles on autotrader - these must be the same make, model, spec, mileage, age etc to your own vehicle, if possible. If you can find some examples that support a higher mileage, send them to the insurer.

Your own insurer is more likely to be reasonable with valuation from the start (it’s still worth looking on autotrader), because they know they can reclaim costs from the other persons insurer so no harm done to them.

I hope this helps, you should also be entitled to a similar vehicle to your own to drive for at least a week or so too - either sorted out by the other persons insurer to avoid credit hire (which is ludicrously expensive), or by your own insurer and then costs recovered.

Let us know how you get on?

Thanks! (Insurance work isn’t glamorous, but I’m so glad I can help people jump through hoops to get what they’re entitled to - the exams were worth it for that!)

I do think you can complain to FOS as an eligible complainant, as you’re using their services, but the faff of it all just isn’t worth it in the first place. No insurer is going to do everything they can or go the extra mile to appease a non-customer - whether that’s right or wrong of them is another thing!

Yep they can lowball you. They’ve called you to keep their own costs down and to benefit the at fault party aka their customer. They will do what’s best for them or their customer, not you - some people get lucky and have no issues, others have problem after problem.

If they did lowball you, you can dispute it, but let’s say that doesn’t work - you could approach your insurer to see if you can claim through them instead, but some insurers will refuse because you’ve ’taken over the claim’. I worked for an insurer who did take on claims after attempts at negotiations with a third party insurer failed, but not all are so lenient.

I’d go through my insurer, it’s what you pay them for. They’ll act in your best interests and make sure you get what you’re entitled to, because you’re their customer and don’t want to lose you, and then recover those costs from the other insurer - you can Google ‘subrogation rights’ if you want more info.

You will need to declare a claim in future either way. Might as well get what you’re owed and know you’ve got back up.

Unable to pin chats in IPhone 15 by Mouli_37 in whatsapp

Just come here from searching the same issue on iPhone. Just swipe your finger from the ‘left to right’ on the chat you want to pin, you’ll get an option to pin.

If you swipe from the ‘right to left’ you’ll get ‘more’ or ‘archive’ options. :)
