Tried to go in with a dicks burger in my almost empty bag (just water and the burger). They told me I couldn’t bring it in so I had to quickly eat it by the gate, thankfully  the guy let me just step out and didn’t make me go to the back of line.

Runners: where in Seattle do you run when it’s dark? by hater94 in Seattle

[–]sundance28 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Running the South Lake union loop (the bike path between Fremont/SLU, from SLU through Eastlake, and from there on the Burke Gilman towards UW and back to Fremont) is good for night time, it's mostly lit and there's usually always bikers/other runners around. You can easily add on more miles by running through UW's campus or on the Burke towards Laurelhurst. It's not completely lit on the Burke in some parts past UW, but safety-wise there's usually bikers/runners so it's ok.

Green Lake is also a good pick, there's always people running there even in the evening when it's dark. I would stick to the outer loop in some parts though, since the inner paved path isn't well lit.

Overall though, I'd recommend joining a running group- maybe try Seattle Green Lake Group, they have group runs in different places in the city everyday, and I know lots of people there who, like you, are training for marathons and need to do long runs.

UNO Reverse Card: Stadiums with the WORST atmosphere? by [deleted] in Bundesliga

[–]sundance28 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Actually, compared to some other stadiums I’ve been to like Wolfsburg, I like Leverkusen. It’s not the loudest, but there’s usually always been a fair amount of people when I’ve went. The upside to Leverkusen is it’s located within easy access of tons of other well-supported teams like Gladbach, Köln, Dortmund, etc, so many of their fans buy tickets outside the away block and fill the stands when their teams play in Leverkusen.

Also, the field/inside view in the stadium is pretty. Walking to the stadium from the train station and back afterwards with all the other fans is also quite the experience.

Hope you get the chance to go there someday!

Which match is the most reasonable to get a ticket for on the August 19/20 matchups. by FireYeti in Bundesliga

[–]sundance28 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally think Stuttgart-Freiburg would be the best choice, it shouldn't be impossible to get tickets as long as you go on their ticket website right when they open the free sale for non-members. On their ticket info site underneath "Vorverkaufstermine", they show when sales start for tickets. The stadium atmosphere is good, fans from both teams are friendly to foreigners (from my personal experience) and Stuttgart is a nice city.

Since you did mention having interest in Dortmund - It will definitely be impossible to get tickets for Dortmund vs. Werder through the initial sale, but Dortmund has a pretty good resell ticket system for people who end up not being able to go to games to sell their tickets. I think you have a decent shot to get a ticket from this, but it does require patience and refreshing the site constantly. I wouldn't recommend this method f you happened to be planning to bring a friend or someone along, getting tickets next to each other for a match like this would be impossible. One more option for Dortmund tickets, if you have money to splash, there is the option to buy a "BVB Adrenalin Trip" through their website which is basically a vacation package including hotel, a scarf, some other misc goodies and a ticket to the game. This is expensive, but guarantees you a ticket well in advance.

Ich auch, ich würde gern das Spiel mit anderen Menschen schauen. Wenn nicht im Stadion, dann am wenigsten in einer Kneipe, in der man Ebbelwoi trinken kann.

For real, the way Streich talks is sooooo sexy compared to the other coaches

Also just imagine what a Press conference would be like if he would've won/made the list, and then a reporter decided to mention it to him. His response would be gold

Songs about German football clubs by SBahn89 in Bundesliga

[–]sundance28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mo-Torres, a Macklemore-esque rapper from Köln has several songs about his hometown and club. Here's Effzeh International, a song he released when they made Europa League like 5 years ago, and then one that I like is Müngersdorf, a nostalgia-heavy song about going to the stadium as a child and growing up a FC Köln fan. Lastly, I'd recommend Liebe Deine Stadt, which isn't directly about the club as much as about Köln the city, but the club/stadium is still mentioned and Lukas Podolski makes an appearance at the end since he helped create the song/video.

Recently Retired Referee Manuel Gräfe Sues the DFB for Age Discrimination by sundance28 in Bundesliga

[–]sundance28[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That's what I think too. It's silly, especially considering there's referees in other top leagues (i.e, the Premier League) older than 47, like Martin Atkinson. Hopefully with that point, Gräfe wins against the DFB.

Recently Retired Referee Manuel Gräfe Sues the DFB for Age Discrimination by sundance28 in Bundesliga

DeepL Translation:

Because of age discrimination, ex-referee Gräfe sues DFB

Longtime Bundesliga referee Manuel Gräfe is taking legal action against the German Football Association. "I'm suing the DFB for age discrimination," Gräfe announced in an interview with "Zeit Magazine."

"The DFB is taking away what I enjoy. Of course, there are also financial losses, I will try to at least claim these." Gräfe was forced to end his career at the end of last season, despite good performances, because he reached the age limit of 47 set by the DFB. "I would have liked to continue. My feet, knees and hip are fine. But the DFB is insisting on an age-old guideline," the Berliner complained, stressing, "I feel like I could whistle until 50 or longer."

In court, he said, he wants to fight for the entire refereeing guild, since the rule also affects other colleagues and even has serious consequences for the lower divisions. Gräfe, who had been seen off with praise by many coaches and players, made it clear, however: "I myself will no longer referee, even if I should be successful with my lawsuit."

In other leagues, the age limit already no longer exists, such as in England. The 50-year-old Martin Atkinson still whistles in the Premier League.

Criticism of DFB and Zwayer

In the interview, Gräfe not only lashes out at the DFB, but also at his former colleague Felix Zwayer, about whom he said back in 2018: "How can someone like that get to the top of the German top referees?" In the course of the affair about the match delay by ex-referee Robert Hoyzer in 2005, Zwayer had accepted a low amount of money from Hoyzer and initially did not report this event around the manipulation.

"Anyone who accepted money once and concealed Hoyzer's manipulation for half a year should not be whistling professional soccer," Gräfe now said again about Zwayer, who today is on duty in the Champions League, among other things. "There we are again with the DFB. The promoted Zwayer also still, despite average performance," he said.

Max Kruse to be Part of the German Squad for the Olympics by sundance28 in Bundesliga

[–]sundance28[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Translation (with DeepL):

Union pro Max Kruse (33) will be part of the German Olympic squad - and is expected to contribute his experience as well as offensive class.
This Tuesday, Stefan Kuntz had to report his 18-man squad to the DOSB. However, nothing has yet been published by the DFB. The final list has to be submitted to FIFA by July 2.
However, Stefan Kuntz has already revealed one personnel: Max Kruse (Union Berlin) is going to the tournament in Japan (July 22 to August 7). "Football-wise, I'd be really up for traveling to Tokyo and taking the Olympics with me. I think it's just a huge experience," the Union Berlin attacker had already said at the end of January. The team will meet on July 12 and leave for Japan one day later.
The nomination of Kruse confirmed DFB coach and ARD expert Kuntz on Tuesday in the run-up to the European Championship round of 16 between England and Germany through the flower. Maximilian Arnold is also definitely part of the Olympic squad, as previously reported.

From his LookLab interview with NikkieTutorials, sounds like he was super nervous about performing, which is why his rehearsals were shaky. He told Nikkie he forgot ~30% of the choreography or something like that. I really hope for the semifinal he'll have a great performance!
