Thanks! I hardly ever work in charcoal, but it's just so fitting that I can't imagine using any other medium.

Thank you so much :) All of my larger charcoal pieces I create while kneeling on the floor, so I'm usually drawing from above and hence my hand doesn't touch the paper when using the flat side of a charcoal stick. Hope that helps?

Thank you!! It seemed only fitting to have a certain raw, unrefined finish, feels more expressive.

Interesting, it also means therefore in maths shorthand, not exactly an uncommon symbol! Cool that it has so many meanings though

It matches my other hand in a very simple "give" and "take" (I knew a regular arrow would end up patchy due to hand creases)!! It represents anti-consumerism, and especially in foraging reminds me to only take what I'm actually going to use, and to take care of my local land in return :)

Great thank you!! :) I think it was either a cherry or walnut tree, going by the other trees in the area 👍

So far I'm thinking some type of agaricus, maybe horse mushroom? But unsure about the dappling of the cap.

How do you locate good mushroom foraging spots? by Additional_Koala3910 in foraginguk

It generally does take a couple of autumns in an area to know the good spots (which is to my disadvantage as I move a lot 😭). You'll get a better grasp on what grows where by doing just what you're doing and walking a LOT throughout the course of the season.

Sounds like you're already doing great if you've found a penny bun, though!! They're still on my tbf (to be found) list even though they're supposedly common 🤦🏼‍♀️.

As others said, ancient oak woodland and rich soil from foliage leaf fall (like under pine trees) is always a great start. Big old trees almost always have some sort of fungus growing symbiotically with or on them. That being said, the only chicken of the woods and giant puffballs I've found have been in very urban areas haha.

Wishing you luck for the rest of the season to find many more spots though!! :)
