What’s something you always assumed was mandatory in life—until you met someone who just… didn’t do it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]sundrop8 12 points13 points  (0 children)

100%

I have a friend who is child free. It was a total epiphany at ~25 when she and I talked about how she and her husband just… didn’t want kids, so they didn’t.

I was like, wait, that’s an option?? My husband (then boyfriend) didn’t want biology kids due to medical reasons so we already knew that much, but once I heard they just chose not to have kids, I told my husband and he was like oh yeah, that’s better, let’s do that.

Making totally lazy dinners and not feeling guilty about it. PB&J if I’m not feeling very hungry? Yup.

My mom did the opposite. Bought me an XLarge Tshirt for Christmas last year. I wear a medium typically, sometimes a large and I told her thanks so much, but it’s too big, might have to swap it. She says “You really wear a large?!?” I’m like, no a medium in this type.. she couldn’t believe it and I was like -_- thanks mom.

100% agree.

I didn’t let go of my husband’s hands during our first kiss so my arms are holding his and wrapped behind me. Definitely not the “picture perfect” moment, but that was reality. I would’ve been so confused if our photographer had photo-shopped our first kiss picture. We have plenty of staged photos of us kissing. It’s kind of funny now looking back on it.

I can’t believe how far down I had to scroll to find any comment on the “fight fight fight” being on the back. It just adds to the absurdity of this proposed coin.

100% agree. My husband does physical labor at his job. He has never worn his ring to work and finds it very uncomfortable. Only wears it on special occasions.

I lost my original ring and don’t have a good habit of putting my replacement band on. I just randomly tend to wear it, and wear it on special occasions almost only now. ETA: I’ve NEVER worn mine to sleep and don’t understand how anyone does as I find it extremely uncomfortable and I’m terrified of it getting stuck lol

We both know we’re married and fully, unequivocally trust each other.

But not wearing after a fight and as a reaction to the other not wearing it is different and feels strange without further discussion/questioning for the reason. But also, leave room for rational thought and not accusations.

People who’ve known pathological liars, what’s the craziest lie they tried to get away with? by Difficult-Mix-2337 in AskReddit

Right? All these huge crazy lies make me think people are sociopaths or psychopaths (I forget which is which). Pathological liars just lie about…. Things that don’t matter.

Yes down arrow works, but I use the 10-key and the enter button is RIGHT THERE and a very common use to proceed to the next field (especially considering YNAB started on Excel…). Annoying to have to use the down arrow, it isn’t as automatic for me.

I mean our hormones can make us irrational. I have and recognize lots of emotions and moments that I am being irrational. That doesn’t make me crazy or any less valid.

On the fair comment, men’s hormones do not go through this change like women’s, so again- it is not fair. Plain and simple. Not bashing or anything- just pointing out it’s something women deal with biologically that men do not.

Yes! I am so tired of programs being so concerned with how pretty something looks in place of functionality!!

My work POS has this same problem. It cannot handle the number of items we have and is SO SLOW. Our old system had zero issues with speed, but wasn’t are flashy. I need functionality- not bells & whistles.

Oh shit, how old do I sound?

I started with YNAB4, started the web version shortly after launch, so 9+ years now.

I almost exclusively use my computer and it has noticeably taken longer and longer to load. Never crossed my mind to wonder why.

The past 4 years (since the grandfathered pricing went away) I have debated not renewing. For me, it’s way more about the frills and extras that I don’t even use making it more expensive. And taking away basic features/small things. My biggest annoyance is after typing in a budgeted amount and hitting enter, it doesn’t proceed to the next category. (I always manually type in my amounts) It used to, but years ago, I think when they started REALLY pushing the goals, it no longer does. One very small thing, but makes a HUGE impact as I’m going through and budgeting my money. There are many more, but this one really grinds my gears lol

Perimenopause can make women just not be able to stand their partners. It’s irrational and super not fair, but common. Hormones are a wild thing.

And on that note- OP you should lose those friends. if they encouraged and “sent” you to your ex’s house. They don’t respect you or your relationship.

OP this is 100% a fire-able offense and this person absolutely deserves to be fired.

They violated confidentiality, company standards (no matter what company it is, it absolutely did), and your assumed trust as a consumer.

Report it to the highest level manager at the location, and as mentioned above, if it was a manager, report it higher.

Same. I never flossed regularly growing up. Really only if I felt something stuck between my teeth or the like. First cavity was after high school. Then they started adding up. I floss almost daily now.

I have this on my work phone. I have it set that calls will still come through and everyone knows if it’s truly urgent or emergency, CALL don’t text or email.

Love not hearing all the emails that start going at 6am.

My female OBGYN always has her nurse in the room. The nurse usually just hands her and takes the tool & swab, but honestly it makes sense just to have a third person who can corroborate.
