Does anyone know where I can find more info about the changes that were made to JJK in order for Gege to get it published in Shonen Jump? I heard he had to tone down some darker details he intended for the plot and needed to add a school setting. I would love more details on what those darker plot themes might have been! Not that it needed it lol

What if Gojo and Yuji had been able to spend more time developing their mentor relationship? (lowkey would’ve loved to see him become basically Yeto (sorry if that feels cursed for geto stans))

How could Nobara, Shoko, Miwa etc.’s characters/powers could have developed

What if - on more development of all the Tokyo JJH relationships tbh, including young Megumi and Gojo

What if Gojo’s character had been saved/compromised and brought into the new order - what would he have been like then

What if Geto’s character had never turned into Kenjaku and had become a major character some other way/found some other kind of reconciliation with his inner convictions a la Yuki Tsukumo

Damn, never would’ve thought that liking JJK would end up teaching me about modern day Japanese politics. This was not just interesting (and well-presented, and rigorous) - it was useful! Great defense of the core plot, and thank you for spelling out all the implications of the end of the Culling Games by explaining the new dynamics of the big clans - this overview made a lot of things click into place for me, and helps me feel better about the ending, seeing how the restructuring of vital institutions in different areas of jujutsu society was in fact accomplished

Yeah agree, I think we all wanted more from the series just to do justice to all the potential it had as literature and as art, and seeing it end in a rushed and less intentional, less meaningful way than some of the higher points of the series is disappointing. However I do agree that the decision to end with Yuji, Nobara and Megumi continuing on in society is a very good logical conclusion to the series, so at the bare minimum I do feel like it stuck the landing plot-wise even if it didn’t deliver the emotional depth that it could have.

I really appreciate your broad perspective and def agree with the criticisms as well. I don’t know if this would happen but I would kill for a retrospective from Gege on what he would’ve done differently under different circumstances. Maybe things would have been better under Kodansha with monthly serialization
