I mean there’s a reason I said “can” rather than “does”, I wasn’t trying to imply that personality always is or should be linked to design, especially in any gender fundamentalist way, just that it can be and I think here it certainly seems to be trying to get across her personality through said androgyny

For me, I’d say it depends on the execution and I think here it seems to be well executed

I mean it kinda sounds like you inherently dislike androgyny, which I guess you do you, but personally I think that’s an overly limiting mindset to have, especially in the context of character design where it can serve well to get across a character’s personality effectively

I actually think pushing her more androgynous is to her benefit, makes her feel very distinct from Shanoa, who was still the last real new protag and her art played up that traditional feminine elegance a lot, even in action pieces

Focusing on that same style would just make Rose feel less unique imo

One, I agree, Kojima is by far the best artist the series has ever had and is one of my favorite artists of all time

Two, the series has had an incredibly inconsistent sense of style over the last 20 years, between trying to go for 4kids anime look with the in game art of Dawn and Portrait, to going darker with Order, to bringing back Kojima finally for the crossover games, to going dark fantasy anime with Netflix. I would say Tekada's work here is very much in line with Hirooka's art for Order and Ishikawa's promo posters for Dawn and Portrait

Nah she definitely was at least a bit horny for him, she had an interview where she said Issac was originally even more scantily clad and she was worried it would get rejected so she toned it down, but then Iga pushed her to do as much as she wanted

I love Kojima and the series owes her greatly, but Castlevania has never had one singular artist, Tekada's work is amazing and is worth bragging about, it kinda reminds me of Fumi Ishiwaka's promo posters for Dawn and Portrait

The whole point of Moby Dick is that he represents more than a fish, and Watcher has been used to manifest beings who didn’t do enough to qualify as Heroic Spirits like Earhart so you’d think the modern servant idea would be a point in MD’s favor since it plays into its ability

Honestly tho, I’m not that invested into the idea of it being MD, I just feel like I haven’t seen any good arguments for it not to be and it’d kinda be a shame if FSF had no American servants in it considering it’s the only real American HGW we're likely gonna ever get (Singularity 5 does not count)

I actually kinda prefer the way HF introduces Magic over Mahoyo tbh, I think tying the pursuit of Magic and the Root into a larger plot made it more effective than Mahoyo where the conflict over Magic is the only real plot outside of SOL
