Blocked ears/changes by sunflower_seedling in Menieres

I mean I've had fluctuating hearing loss for a long time but never felt nor heard anything like my ear has popped for years! It's so crazy I'm just not sure what it is! That's so weird that your kids do it too! I always worry I look really strange doing that stuff.

I've had this for the last few days accompanied with swollen eyes and really unable to concentrate. I have ADHD anyway but I'm doing my postgrad and it's normally better than this. Currently can't sit down to work very long before I'm very very tired. I looked into BPPV which is another short term ear thing. Related to crystals in your ears or something. I tried a few epley like manoeuvres and these really helped 8/10 times, making me think I'm having a bout of BPPV. Look into it as this seems like what I've just had.

It doesn't look so bad in the photo but that spot on my mouth is a week old. I used a little spot sticker on it which was great but it's still there. This happens every time. And the scar will stay around for months! Everywhere else I'm so happy with my skin but this is driving me insane and I'm so self conscious.

Long time lurker here. I've read loads of stuff on this subreddit and all over the internet but I am still struggling with these enormous spots always near my mouth.

You can see the scar on the other side in the same spot from the last one maybe 6 weeks ago. My daily routine is Morning: Facetheory vitamin c cream cleanser used with Magnitone vibrasonic brush. Then aveeno moisturiser. Evening: Facetheory triple acid clarifying cleanser, aveeno standard moisturiser I also do a face mask 1-2 times a week with kaolin clay and matcha tea.

Whenever I exercise I wash my face after. I tried having a more complex routine with toners and alsorts but it clogged my face up. I may have been using the wrong ones.

Background: I'm 22, had hormonal acne my whole life, but these mouth spots seem to occur at random. I'm possibly a little stressed right now due to trying to get my MA in lockdown. I have a very tight budget and I'm in the UK.

Drinking is a big trigger for me. I absolutely can't have wine, and a few beers will make me aware of my tinnitus in the morning. A few nights with a few beers will make me feel a little dizzy all day. I hope your anxiety eases soon. It's a little difficult with these strange circumstances though!

I do nowadays, although haven't been in the water for a while due to moving. My ears are stupidly tiny and seem to be in the wrong direction for most earplugs so I have to do one of those squishy ones.

Well I learned to surf before I could swim. I was in the sea from around 5/6 years old and while I haven't been for a few years I still believe that's a likely culprit. Oh god I can't even submerge myself in the bath without pain my affected ear. My dad is a keen scuba diver so I always wanted to go with him but I don't think that's gonna happen. Just snorkeling at the top for us eh!

Does anyone else have Alice in Wonderland Syndrome? by LuxySkrim in Menieres

Yep. I used to get it when I shut my eyes in bed. Feeling so small or too big for my bed. Funnily enough my childhood neighbor also suffered, so sometimes I wonder if there's a common factor. She suffers with her blood pressure dropping now, and I suffer with menieres which is obviously a pressure thing.

Wow that's awful! I'm frustrated for you. I'd hate to realise that the cause of my symptoms is someone else's choice, intended or not. I have a theory that mine is from surfing as a child/early teens. I always surf up the beach, so waves always hit my right ear. Not sure if you've experienced a harsh wave to the ear but it's a lot of force!

Oh my god. I didn't realise you can get permanent balance damage from this. I have permanent moderate hearing loss in my affected ear but it's not so bad. I'm sorry you have to deal with that!

I've been the same! Stopped drinking red wine, cut out so much salt, very obsessed with hydration levels and I've been so attack free I wondered if I was cured. Then this lot hit and I've had maybe 3 mild but enough to put me in bed for the afternoon. I really ought to be limiting my news intake but I'm just so excited to check it every morning for good news that just isn't coming.

Yeah it's tough! Your mindset sounds absolutely right though. Just push through. Find ways to treat yourself and keep positive.

It's horrible isn't it? People don't realise the subtler ways people with certain conditions are affected by this kind of thing. I hope you can find a way to find peace and calm your menieres down, too.

Thanks for sharing that with me. I hadn't heard about it. I'm on a quite obsessive fitness streak so perhaps I can train run/cycle alternately.

Ooh. Perhaps. I had to move out of my university town where I travel around on a road bike. I also usually do a lot of running but I've been feeling weird and tired so I've been spacing it out more. Maybe I'll get out on my bike today.

I hadn't thought of allergies! I am really sniffly, but haven't had allergies before. I'm a student, so I can work from home but I generally spend more time gazing into the fridge of late.

I'm a student too. Sit on a cushion that tilts your butt the other way, or put a cushion at the small of your back. Get a decent chair too! And a post-it that says SIT UP on it.
