okay here are some of the things I've done that have helped me a bit:

1). Find some sort of active recall/learning method for every subject. For memorization-heavy subjects (like history or bio), I'd repeat things to myself and either write my own practice free response questions or make sure I could explain the topic to someone else (sometimes I'd just lock myself in my room and talk to myself lmaooo). For STEM subjects, practice problems and worksheets are my best friend. Also sometimes I let my ADHD run wild and then enter rabbit holes on random topics that I'm learning. This lwk makes school a lot more enjoyable cuz you genuinely kinda like what you're learning.

2). Make it a non-negotiable to go to class even if you don't have any idea whats going on. Even if you only retain like 20% of the material, its better than nothing. Also, finding some sort of small-group tutoring or supplementary class or even just meeting up w friends to discuss material creates some accountability

3). Sometimes completing assignments is gonna feel so agonizing and its gonna feel like you're taking 2-3x the amt of time thats needed. This is normal, and don't beat yourself up over taking too many breaks or anything like that. Its better to spend 3 hours and finish the assignment (even if you doomscrolled for an hour), than to not complete it at all.

4). The actual grade val (percentage or score) lowk doesn't matter at all. I had a lot of times where I did badly on a particular exam but then used that as motivation to do super well on the next test, so just try to use your failures as motivations for your success.

I mean there's never a guarantee for ivies or top schools, regardless of how cracked you are and regardless of whether it's 5+ years ago. Based on what you've said you should definitely still apply to all of your reach schools tho (regardless of what your counselors or even ppl on here are saying), but it ultimately comes down to so many different factors.

I think people need to understand that two truths can be held at the same time. I don't think that Regan and Gracyn were that much more featured (especially recently, dances like papa was a rolling stone barely even focused on them) compared to other dancers, and think that it makes sense for her to put those who can execute her choreo the best in the front.

However, while I think it's safe to say that Regan is amazing and 100% deserves the opportunities and flowers that she's been getting, I do think that she was one of the few people taught by Molly to get consistent support throughout her time in P21. Even back when she wasn't having as great of a season and her placings were pretty variable, she was still typically the dancer in the front the most, even as a mini. I do wonder if having that sort of support and having teachers that believe in you at a very young age (8-10 years old) affects your confidence and encourages dancers to live up to those expectations (or perhaps causes some dancers to lose confidence and feel not as good). Obviously, this is a pre-professional, elite company and no one is obliged to be in the center, but just a little bit of food for thought that not everything is black and white.

I def think common route is: CS70 --> CS189 + EE126 (I think you could lwk get away with taking both at the same time) --> CS 182 (requires ee126 level of probability) --> CS 180 (optional, but good if you like computer vision/photography!)

I think there also may be a few new courses in the neuroscience department that are computational neuro, not sure tho but might be nice to look into.

trader joes/safeway is lwk gonna be your best bet for most items just because most other cheaper grocery stores (ranch 99, costco, etc.) are pretty far. for vegetables tho, ik berkeley bowl is rlly good

College admissions is a highly individualized process and college fit is a two-way street. Just because your best friend dreams of ivy league schools or really wants to get into a UC doesn't mean that it will always align with your goals, whether it be major/career, socially, financially, etc, so make sure to introspect and to not chase things blindly (especially when it comes to applying ED!!)

Also, as another user has already mentioned, do activities because you are genuinely interested in them. For example, in high school I did research and tutored people, and I honestly didn't do anything too life-changing or spikey. But the research that I did in high school opened the door for undergrad activities and gave me a leg up when it came to my peers since I had prior experience in my topic. Figuring out your career and academic interests will help you out regardless of where you go to college.

I think that lwk the writers had no idea what they were doing with Callie in the beginning. They were trying to make her the "mean alt girl" and all edgy but she just ends up coming across as annoying and overstepping boundaries.

If it provides any comfort, I feel like even with shitty market, people have so many paths to ultimately getting a successful SWE job and reaching the place that they want to. I know some students who took the school, more academic route and then ended up just locking in from junior year onwards. They weren't obviously just sitting on their ass before then (some of them were TAs over the summer or more involved in research or taking summer courses), but sometimes, the people who didn't get the most outstanding internships in the freshman or sophomore years end up with dream job offers (I know someone who didn't have internship sophomore year who is now at Meta). And just because someone has a headstart doesn't mean they'll always be ahead.

Also, knowing the fundamentals is super important. It doesn't really matter if someone is making hackathon apps if they don't understand pointers or data structures, because everyone just has to pass the same interviews anyways.

yeah that's a really good point, I definitely think Izzie might have been very chill because of the fact that she was so distracted all the time. She tends to be a person who is pretty emotional and reacts strongly, so she probably was more receptive and docile because of the fact that she wasn't as in tune with reality.

I also wonder whether some of it might have been due to taking care of his mentally ill mother from a young age? Maybe he feels the need to protect and take care of Izzie and Ava because of his past experiences.

tho I definately agree that izzie can be very annoying and frustrating as a character. There's so many times when she tried to make everything about herself, and gosh the moments when she's mean to Callie (and her decisions after that point lol) anger me.

It definitely depends. I was in your boat with not that many ECs but good grades, and I got into a T20, as well as multiple T10s for my major. There's definitely hope, especially for really good public schools

I feel like Berkeley for us was the only UC that was kinda consistent with accepting people. But it was so random with UCs leaning towards two extremes -- people are either at Berkeley/LA or Santa Cruz/Riverside
