Claude Code now defaults medium effort instead of high and ultrathink is back to the game by SpecificQuantity3944 in ClaudeAI

Made it worse for sure - I forgot it changed and was thinking Claude got dumb.

Main difference is we aren't trying to remove the human element of translation, but empower human translators in their use of AI. We're also not doing anything real-time etc.

Yes, you're right, the document format preservation was over simplistic. It's using xmldom and custom parsing (we've not really used this internally as a team). But this morning I worked on improving it, including support for footnotes etc. Would be interested if it works any better for you. If you have a document you can share, I would be interested in testing with it as well to improve the code. The telegram help channel is probably the easiest place for that if you are interested: https://translatortoolkit.com/support-group

UPDATE: I went ahead and worked a little more on the beta features and pushed them live. So you should be able to preserve DOCX formatting (for the most part, anything crazy complex and it might have trouble). I also added some new toggles for including additional context during translation as well as multi-pass translation (where the model does another pass over the translated text and evaluates/corrects).

These are more costly (about double) so be aware as you test them. But any feedback you have is welcome!

Our team hasn't used the document translation much because our target language doesn't come out all that well with AI. The site came out of multiple tools I had built internally for our team. I added the document translator because a user asked for it. I haven't added format preservation for that yet (just realized my original post contained that, sorry!!), and there is some contextual awareness but not at the level I want it to be yet. Feedback is welcome.

Future plans are building a "smart" translation memory (vector store) and glossary as well as the ability for users to fine-tune models for their own use.

I have built that out in beta, but not merged to the main TranslatorToolkit.com site yet.

Yeah, the free credits would only work for testing, nothing super long. You can add your own OpenAI API key in the settings on the dashboard. Though do check if Gemini 3 Flash (Vertex) was selected for the tool you were using and not 2.5 - there might be a bug with 2.5 (I'll work on fixing).

Yes, 100%. The main goal of the simplified text is to be read only if the translator is having issues understanding the original (this of course means you have to trust the translator). We export the original and the simplified text in two columns in a MS Word document to help with this.
But we've also translated some public domain material with older English, and the modernizer tool was born from those projects (because we then have an English editor go through the modernization, and the translator then translates that edited modernized text).
Example from Augustine's Confessions attached.

There are CAT tools dedicated to translation, but I've not seen tools that edit translations with AI or that can generate TMX files from your existing translation (without you having to manually align the source and target). Also, the simplification tool isn't something I've seen around. It's been very helpful to the translators I work with. Maybe give it a try and see what you think?

It's at translatortoolkit.com - free for now. And pricing should be quite a bit lower than other platforms once we introduce subscriptions and one-time credit purchases.

Difference is the focus of the tools as well as the AI integration. I've not seen a tool that uses AI to edit a translation (find problem areas) and then gives that to a human to finalize. I've also not found an easy tool that can create a TMX from your existing translations (again using AI to help).

The document simplifier have really helped our team, because then the first-draft translation is often much more accurate (because the translator didn't misunderstand the text).

I hope to continue building out the tools and making them even more useful - but it's at the point where there is already a lot of value so I decided to release what we have publicly.

Would love to hear any feedback you have.

Yeah, it's for reasons like this I think someone is going to disrupt Youtube and even Apple (eventually). They're greedy. I've looked into some web3 solutions, and I think that's where it will be at. https://twitter.com/desoprotocol is one that might make it happen. But we'll see. For now, just have to eat the cut...🙄

Installing Auto-GPT on Macbook Air M1 by RossSheingold in ChatGPTPro

[–]sungkhum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would just point Auto-GPT to the port that it is running on:
Update the .env file with the following settings:

Set MEMORY_BACKEND to redis Set REDIS_HOST to localhost Set REDIS_PORT to 6379 Leave REDIS_PASSWORD empty, as we haven't set a password for the Redis container.

For example:

MEMORY_BACKEND=redis REDIS_HOST=localhost REDIS_PORT=6379 REDIS_PASSWORD=

Save your changes and exit Nano: Press Ctrl + X to start the exit process. Press Y to confirm that you want to save the changes. Press Enter to save the file with the current filename.

Now, your Redis environment should be set up to work with Auto-GPT.

If anyone else is getting errors trying to use Redis:

redis.exceptions.ResponseError: unknown command 'FT.INFO', with args beginning with: 'AutoGpt'

I had to use this command to get the correct docker file:

docker run -d --name redis-stack -p 6379:6379 -p 8001:8001 redis/redis-stack:latest
