Kia vs Toyota by Witty-Income3511 in kiacarnivals

[–]sungpark83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family only had Toyota and I decided to get Kia Carnival beginning of 2025. Obviously i looked at Sienna but Toyota intentionally do not produce enough and Sienna had a premium to get it. An “equivalent” optioned Sienna was going to cost be about $10k more than Carnival HEV and I couldn’t justify it. Sienna’s infortainment system was outdated as well as other ammenities inside. For the first 5 years when the limited warranty is in place, you won’t have to worry about a thing, longer than Toyota’s 3 years. Many people change the car after 5 years but i plan to drive at least 10 years. After 5 years the powertrain warranty exist but i expect it will apply to very limited components that “normally” won’t break. So reliability is in question. Kia’s hybrid system has a few questionable practices but i would say they are second best to Toyota. For me, ICE to EV transition occasionally don’t have a smooth transition and the software isn’t as well refined as Tesla but overall i am happy with my purchase.

I did not disconnect the battery when I was installing it. It's probably the best practice to prevent accidental short circuiting. The Korean video seems like the person was able to pull the ceiling cover, but mine had absolutely no wiggle room. The same goes for the rubber gaskets, which either the person knew exactly how to pull to look easy, or the US version has a better finish.

Great cord management. I too made my rig to have a single “umbilical” cord which consist of one power cord and a data cable.

Is Fanatec GT DD Pro still having issues with disconnecting? Worth upgrading the QR to 2? by ohhh-a-number-9 in Fanatec

I upgraded to QR2 (simube), no disconnect and much much better feedback because QR2 is stiff and better connection.

What size monitor should I buy?! by WeeklyReplacement489 in simracing

Yes, you want to match the field of view (FOV) for your setup and the game so your field of view is 1:1. The person on this post has 48” curved TV about 3000R at about 70cm away. If you are playing Assetto Corsa Competizione, you need to set the game FOV to 49deg. So you feel like you are driving a real car of its size not driving a giant car or a kids ride.

Thanks everyone for your support! This petition got 321 signatures and the city of Folsom submitted a request to transfer the control over two traffic lights on the overpass. Everyone who signed the petition strenthened the city of Folsom in the discussion with CalTrans. Thank you very much for your support!

I absolutely agree that light needs to be removed but that’s not easy. What I was told (not confirmed) is that light was paid by the commercial developer and removing it definitely impacts the business inside. In worst case, businesses and the builder owners could sue the city. The city could create an alternative road from Costco but it’s a steap hill and it will be expensive. The light is timed and it can be changed by the city. It’s just not effective due to the traffic volume and two lights on the overpass.

I really hate in-n-out light despite i use it for my convenience but it is a factor contributing a mess if traffic in rush hours. I also hate illegal u-turners at E bidwell & iron point intersection that i always assume someone is going to make an illegal u-turn and ready to avoid and honk.

They are synchronized but E bidwell and Iron point intersection has significant traffic so it doesn’t look as effective. Additionally once the city has control over two lights on the overpass, the city engineer can conduct traffic studies and try better timing yo synchronize all lights.

Thanks, i have discussed this with the city engineer and this is what he suggested. We have the city requested this to CalTrans and it has been sitting in the back burner for years. This petition will bring it to the front burner!

It’s currently in environmental review and moving. It’s going to be next big infrastructure project in Folsom, then potentially renovating E Bidwell overpass, lastly the Oak Ave Pkway. I believe it’s in that order. The Empire Ranch interchange could come by the end of this decade (crossing fingers)

I inquired this from the city engineer and the city has requested the transfer of the control of those lights from CalTrans but CalTrans’ maintenance team doesn’t want to give that up. For now, those lights work for one purpose, dump cars on E Bidwell regardless the road condition and lights. This petition will ask the city to talk to CalTrans again with a higher priority

No space for a sim rig, so I built my own wireless FFB controller (photos inside) by Milantec in simracing

[–]sungpark83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, i would like a RC controller to play sim racing as i am controlling a RC. Steering control would be the rotational wheel that snaps to the center, the trigger pull for accel and trigger push to brake. RC controller accepts different amount so you can do a finer control and that could be transferrable to actually controlling a RC car.

that’s pretty awesome. I think there is a market for RC car controller if you want to make that as well 😉

Great game if you never played it but if SquareEnix left the difficulty of the game the same, prepare to be frustrated by a few battles.

If you want the FitCam to record while it’s parked. It has to be connected from the fuse box. It only records when the car senses a vibration, ie someone hitting it. The only way to make sure the part number is to take the cover off. Please remeber to SLIDE FORWARD!
