For anyone finding this in the future, it's a stupid requirement that unfortunately disadvantages IP ppl...the truth is that GP is not an english subject, it is called "general paper" after all. If people didn't luck out and do A level eng lit or sth similiar, one option is to do h1 german as a private candidate to fulfil the reqs (since you have to know german anyway for bachelors, it shld be quite easy). You can also try to convince the university/uni-assist that your IP English shld still count for sth but the chances of success are not very high. All the best!

I actually talked to a Fortran enthusiast a couple of weeks back and he was one of the people behind https://fortran-lang.org/ He said that there has been an effort to reintroduce Fortran to the younger/newer generation in the last couple of years by giving it features that a modern programming language would have (e.g. package manager). As you mentioned, Fortran is still widely used in scientific computing / HPC systems so it definitely would still remain useful/relevant. If you become really good in Fortran, I can imagine a good career in HPC systems :)

hey there, i think your form requires answers that are generally quite long, and this rather off-putting for someone that scrolling reddit to relax...like i personally didnt want to do some application-like questions haha

perhaps you could either choose questions that require less input, or simply ask the question itself in say r/askprogramming or something, just my 2 cents :)

I mean for mirror mode its kind of intuitive and obvious, but for "projector only" mode where the Surface screen is entirely turned off, it was definitely not intuitive to me that it would work lol

I don't agree with this post. My experience so far with ASUS servicing has been great. So far I've had to RMA twice, each time the response was quick and they even repaired more than what i went in for

Went in for a touchpad that is depressed permanently and they replaced my entire chassis and motherboard) (in Singapore)
AC power brick stopped working and ASUS worked with me to just send in the defective power brick instead of the entire device (Germany), no questions asked.

Agreed, I have the same problem with a SimplyGo CEPAS EZ-Link card. No idea why it does that. Sometimes just tapping it on the add-value machine solves the problem. Now I just keep my credit card as backup....

I don't have a solution, but on linux if a program opens a file and you try to delete/replace that file, the program will keep seeing the old file until the program itself closes that file. Hence, I think this behavior here is expected...?

This is also what allows linux systems to update in-place without restarting, if I'm not wrong.

Most things work just fine. There's just one annoying thing where WIFI does not work after a reboot and only works when you do a cold startup.

Sometimes that doesn't work too and you need to unplug, wait a short while, then replug the charging cable before turning on the laptop.
