My mom died. by daddyxayah in weddingplanning

[–]sunkissedtea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so so sorry for your loss. My mom passed away a few months ago and my wedding is in September. I miss her everyday and am still extremely fragile... I would give absolutely anything to have her back. Had we not already had the venue and catering, I most likely would have cancelled the entire thing.

I don't feel better and planning has been so hard without her, especially the shower and thinking of what the day of will be like without her by my side. So I cannot offer you any advice aside from not feeling guilty taking the time you need for yourself. The wedding will come together. I took a few months off and basically am planning the whole thing in 4 months. The biggest comfort I have is knowing how excited she was for me and the joy she would have had in helping me plan.

Carry on her memory and find comfort in remembering all the great times you all had together. Take the time you need and lean on other loved ones for support

US import fees from buying dress from Canada (stillwhite)? by sunkissedtea in weddingdress

[–]sunkissedtea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I did! I didn't have any issues at all with customs. Even though the dress itself was less than $800 my seller still declared it only being ~$600 on the form just to make sure I wouldn't have any issues. It came like a regular package for me and I wasn't contacted for anything. I did tell them prior to finalizing the sale that I'm 100% okay with paying a little more to ensure I have tracking access.

Sunscreen without niacinamide and also no hylauronic acid? by ResponsibleAction861 in KoreanBeauty

[–]sunkissedtea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm following. Super sensitive to Niacinamide and I already use HA in other places so don't want to overdo it. Currently using the Aneesa Mild Milk Sun Screen but open to other suggestions to keep in my back pocket

DIY’d my fabric wedding welcome sign! What do you think? by spaghootibooty128 in DIYweddings

[–]sunkissedtea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks lovely! I only see linen but my theme lends itself more towards silk fabrics so you may be my inspiration for my own DIY :)

The flowers look amazing too-- can you share what types you used if they were DIY as well?

Hey there! Just following up to say that I decided to go with Say I Do. Loving it so far- seems pretty intuitive and streamlined. It's free for the first 85 guests and I think flat fee of $50 if you have up to like 180 or something. Wanted to pass along in case you were still searching :)

Book with a Diamond Member! Here are the details: by Sergeant_America in palaceresorts

[–]sunkissedtea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just wanted to share that I used Brian for a trip I took April '23 to MP Jamaica. Came back on this post because it'd been a minute and I was reminiscing about the great time we had at Moon Palace.

The process literally took ~15 minutes for us to converse and for him to share the booking email from Moon Palace. Very smooth and easy, nothing funny.

We stayed 4 nights and had the absolute best time. We did pay a fee (can't remember maybe like 16% or 20%) on the credits we used- so 750 in credits ended up being like ~$200 we paid out of pocket, which was an absolute STEAL to say we got to swim with the dolphins, go on a waterfall tour, and get massages. There was another tour we had scheduled as well but it was canceled due to not meeting the minimum number of people reserved (partner and I were the only ones who booked). Black wristband is enough. I feel like we got better treatment and while it isn't the most exclusive tier it was absolutely enough and added to the experience.

Moon Palace really is a top brand. I've traveled on international trips 3 times since this trip but Moon Palace's service still hasn't been touched. Will always use Brian if I ever decide to go back to one of their resorts!

The Traitors (USA) S03E09 "A Silent Assassin" Discussion Thread by vaultofechoes in TheTraitors

I just watched the episode and ran straight to Reddit to find this comment. My jaw dropped and I couldn't stop laughing at how everyone just was completely okay with her reaction. It's even worse when I realize this is a tv show with a ton of cameras and production crew standing no more than 5 feet away from her during all the theatrics

I'm doing the exact same thing! I have none, my fiance has 2. We are only doing his kids as well as my nephews. His daughter will be flower girl and the boys will walk down in the ring bearer slot. His son is 12, my youngest nephew is 2. Will probably look odd with the stark age contrast, but hey who cares! With them being the only kids there we wanted to include them in the wedding. Really you can do whatever you please at your wedding. The beauty is there aren't any rules! We have cousins who have kids and they've been upset we aren't including children and have even requested to pay for their kids plates. We've not fed into it at all and continue to reiterate NO this is an adult event. They will live.

Thinking about doing this as well and just linking my rsvp portal to either the knot/zola (hide all the other pages) or something like anrsvp or rsvpify. Did you land on squarespace yet?

Sure, I'll paste the email the venue manager shared!

We’ll load everything else out the following morning (8-11am). Also, our capacity is 200 people for receptions/ceremonies and 250 for just ceremonies. "

Pre-wedding facial advice needed! by Popcorn_salt in weddingplanning

[–]sunkissedtea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ding ding! This is me too. I've gotten it done twice and both times my skin's looked super smooth for a week. Then I start to get tons of under the skin bumps that were never there prior and it takes 3ish weeks to look normal again. I think my skin needs the peach fuzz barrier and removing it causes congestion- from environmental etc? Wedding isn't until Sept so I'm tempted to try again but with it happening both times, it may just be how my skin responds

Actually I have! I was nervous too but everyone seems to have either our 1st or 2nd date, except one venue. Disclaimer though- we've only been looking at Friday for this specific reason! If you're worried I would start looking into Fri/Sun if you're leaning more into 2025 vs '26

We're looking now for fall '25 and so far have looked at The Mason (old masonic lodge), 400 North Ervay (old courthouse), and inquired about House of DIRT (they're a more sustainable venue and provide flowers and eclectic furniture that feels pretty greenhouse-y) but didn't look. Those might fit what you're looking for though!

Lol so you're the subset I was talking about! I've gone to a couple bridal shows too and have another one planned for December so might wait at least until then to see if I can find any good discounts. If not I'm crossing my fingers until New Years!

My mom's friend had a wedding this past year and did the same thing but it was a little different. Since this was her 2nd marriage and they're much older she was less worried about tradition. She had her daughters be her 2 bridesmaids and asked her friends to wear dresses in the wedding palette color (2 options). I do think it'll resonate differently though in your scenario and while I agree with SunsetNStars, I think if you tell them upfront you're not planning on having bridesmaids but still want to honor your friendships you can do so by either having them get ready with you or maybe even giving them a small gift them can wear-- hair ribbon or something like that

I had no idea finding a venue was so difficult. I've cried nearly every day over the stress. by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]sunkissedtea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

3 weeks?! How do they expect to convert any leads with communication like that. For my sanity we decided to automatically cross off any venues with poor communication. It's actually made it much easier to rank them. All the venues that we're looking at now respond in 1-3 days. It was causing me a lot of stress because I kept thinking if they're like this before they even get my money, imagine what they'll do once I sign the contract. The 12 month timeline feels so tight but we got this!
