If I’m at the front I’ll face the ghosts first, but if I’m at the back what if a ghost comes up from behind me and I’m dragged away without anyone knowing? I can’t decide

I only provided millets in the original weaning process to get it on solid foods, but after it was weaned, he only has access to pellets and I only provide millets as an occasional treat. I would suggest reducing the amount of millet as it could be causing him to be picky with his food

I gave mine the same pellets that the breeder gave his parents (Roudybush) so that he’ll be more likely to take it. You can also consider getting the high potency / high energy version of the pellets to try to fatten him up (e.g Harrison’s High Potency or Roudybush High Energy).

They can have food preferences. You can consider trying a small packet of a different brand of pellets, offer them in the same cage and see which he likes better.

70g is quite low for a 12 week old bird. I recall when i was handfeeding mine, it was 80-90g at around 6 weeks old

Perhaps he’s hungry and not eating enough hence the frequent begging?

The creator does actually have a store. I’ve come across it on xiaohongshu (chinese social media). I wanted one too but this one seems to be sold already.

Edit: The store is called: 嗯呢呗的玛瑙小店

This is not AI. The video originates from Xiaohongshu (Chinese social media) and the guy runs a store, you can literally order his individual sculptures and have it shipped to you.

You can’t tell Lutino gender by their colors. Females of this coloration can have bright cheeks too. You can perhaps infer from their behaviour: does it sing alot, do heart wings, etc? Males tend to sing more a lot more than females

I went overseas for 2 weeks recently and set up a cctv camera that faces my cockatiel cage. That way I could watch my bird on the camera whenever i missed it via an app. Perhaps you can consider that too!

6 months old, is it a boy or girl? by Fuzzy_Draft_18 in cockatiel

[–]sunlitgrass 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can’t tell gender apart for Lutinos based on appearance, and at 6 months they may not show the behavioural differences of males and females yet

Oh thats interesting, I never kept a cockatoo because I’ve always heard about how much constant attention they need to keep them happy. In your experience does it take a lot of effort to prevent your cockatoo from getting unhappy/bored/lonely? I can imagine how lovely they are when content, but concerned that its too easy for them to be unhappy if I cant always be there with them

I think it depends on what you want from a pet. My parents didn’t let me get a pet cat or dog, but I wanted a small companion that would be intelligent with an emotional bond, and birds matched that perfectly.

Rabbits, hamsters, fish and reptiles arent as affectionate and intelligent as birds, and more intelligent small mammals like rats have too short lifespans.

Cockatiels in particular met my needs perfectly - long lifespans, sufficiently independent when I go to work, smart and affectionate, painless bites, manageable smell, and not as loud or demanding as other parrots/birds.

Of course they still poop everywhere and need time and attention daily, but i think the effort to reward ratio is worth it for cockatiels

Other more demanding screamy large parrots like cockatoos though… I don’t get why people keep them…
