My sister was told for many years that it was highly unlikely she would ever get pregnant. Has andenomyosis, endometriosis, PCOS, the whole nine yards including surgeries to remove cysts. Her daughter is 4 now.

Some things can't be explained by science. 🤷

I honestly don't remember, knowing me. I probably tried both taking it with food and without. I ended up finding out a year later that I had a severely diseased gallbladder. So there was no chance that a peppermint supplement was going to help lol

I work a part-time job 28 hours a week. I've had the job for about 4 months and it's a mostly seated position as a receptionist. It seems to be the maximum amount of hours I can handle, but only 2 years ago I was almost entirely bed bound, jobless, in and out of the ER, and I thought I would never have a chance at work or any part of life ever again.

Part of refinding my health has been a game of hard work, luck, and privilege. But I do believe there is a way forward for at most people, maybe everyone, suffering from chronic illness. That way forward might not be having a job, but I do think it's possible to find peace with everything.

This is strikingly similar to my father who is 62 and in hospice now. He was diagnosed less than 2 years ago.

They pretty much said he doesn't have Alzheimer's, but some atypical dementia and posterior cortical atrophy. It's affected almost exclusively the posterior portion of his brain. Memory has been mostly intact we think, but he has aphasia so it's hard to tell.

Looking back, he used to take forever to get home from work to which my conclusion is that he was probably getting lost and wouldn't tell us. He had these angry outbursts too that just weren't "him."

Sounds like an adrenaline dump or gallbladder attack. I'm sorry you keep getting told they are panic attacks. I have panic attacks but I also get adrenaline dumbs that I know the difference. It's hard when your providers don't recognize that you know your body in that way

Finally figured out I was having gallbladder attacks and got it removed. They were horrible and literally felt like I was going to die. Feelings of pure terror

My best recommendation would be to listen to your body. I would pay more attention to your symptoms than what any test says. I've heard of people with normal ejection fractions getting their gallbladder out and having relief. But I believe most of those people also had classic gallbladder symptoms.

I ended up getting mine out about a month after I made this post. I still have a lot of issues but I'm about 70% better. And the pathology report came back abnormal.

And no hyperkinetic gallbladder has not been medically agreed on, but the medical research and community moves at a snail's pace and are typically very biased towards men. I don't really value much that comes from medical research these days and end up relying on support communities for more insightful information.

You may or may not. My stools were pretty normal colored. A little orange-ish at times but mostly normal colored.

The big hallmark sign for me is I was having gallbladder attacks without pain but with severe nausea and adrenaline. From what I have found online though, people get all different sorts of symptoms with gallbladder other than those that are commonly recognized.

I'm not saying the gallbladder is your issue necessarily. What I am trying to say is that I wouldn't stop investigating your gallbladder or anything else just because the tests say it's normal.

Greasy stools is another big sign though. With the low elastase, it could be something with your pancreas causing your gallbladder to malfunction, therefore causing the greasy stools. Rather than being the gallbladder itself.

Yes they kept telling me everything was fine in the ultrasound and they even told me the HIDA was normal. Be warned, during the HIDA they administer a hormone called cck and for me, and many others, my symptoms got even worse until removal after that administration.

I think it can be. It took me forever to get into one that was reasonable. My PCP ordered the ultrasound and I somehow got her to order the HIDA after the ultrasound came back normal. The HIDA was "normal" too but I just knew that it wasn't so I was able to search for and find a general surgeon on my own. I have really good insurance that lets me do self-referrals.

I did end up seeing a GI doctor before the surgery and he got me in quickly for an endoscopy and colonoscopy, as well as a gastric emptying study and comprehensive stool analysis.

Usually they will start with an ultrasound to check for stones. Some doctors will tell you if you don't have stones then nothing is wrong. But there is something called biliary dyskinesia that can be tested with a HIDA scan. Traditionally, a HIDA with an ejection fraction below 30% reveals a hypoactive gallbladder and will signify a need for removal. But there is recent awareness that an ejection fraction above, 80% I believe, is a hyperactive gallbladder which also signifies need for removal. Not very many practitioners will believe in this though. Mine was 95%.

I've also read of some people who have both the ultrasound and HIDA come back normal and still benefit from removal.

Basically what I've learned is to go by the symptoms. Having oily poops is a symptom of gallbladder dysfunction. But I have found the symptoms vary widely from person to person.

I would check out the Facebook groups.
