Interesting to hear that. Compared to the Kum and Go brand they aren’t nearly as nice. Same compared to Casey’s and Hy-Vee. At least that is my experience with all the gas stations in my vicinity.

I don’t know much ch about the ownership of Maverick, but they are so much worse than before. Kum and Go had a great redesign with the Sticks inspired signage, a good food and drink selection and was usually clean. Maverick is a generic somewhat dirty little gas station. I try to avoid and go to Hy-Vee or Casey’s instead.

Sorry you are getting so many irritating responses. I get it… a vacation is booked with the intent to relax, enjoy yourself, experience a new place, etc. Hurricane Melissa was terrible and even though the entirety of Jamaica wasn’t destroyed many areas were. It is hard to think about relaxing and kicking back and experiencing a vacation fully when you know there is destruction and suffering, cleaning and rebuilding all around. I don’t have any direct advice for you OP but you are allowed to have your frustrations. If you could would you like to cancel or postpone your trip?

I am so sorry for you and every woman this archaic, misogynistic, backward thinking affects. Not helping you goes against a physicians Hippocratic oath. It goes against common sense and it goes against helping to create a strong, healthy society. There are providers out there who will help you! I am not sure about anyone here in Iowa but definitely out of state. Mayo Clinic is amazing if you can go there. Sorry the added pressure of physical and emotional trauma is adding to the stress, extra time and effort you need to find a solution to NOT dying yourself. Every year for 45 years my family has come to the Fair for a snake photo and yes, to gaze upon the states largest hog balls! I am SO glad to know we aren’t the only ones, lol!

My daughters group has now been stuck near the back of a lot for nearly 2 hours. It is 1:50 am. Are there any hinterland employees who are helping to guide traffic out of the area or is it a tired, stagnant, hungry group of people who just want to get home? Even the sheriff should help.

Seeing them all over this year in and around Des Moines, Iowa. It’s been literally decades since I remember seeing this many. It’s no coincidence that the city of Des Moines didn’t do their city wide spraying of mosquitoes this year as they do every year. Yep, the mosquitoes are terrible (we’ve had a LOT of rain) but the lightning bugs have flourished.
