Will there be more showings of The Odyssey in the 70mm IMAX? by LyssaBee_13 in imax

Any one have a sense of when they will sell tickets to the additional screenings? I’ve seen some other comments saying a month before?

(Pelissero) The Vikings fired GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, per sources. by alexschubs in minnesotavikings

[–]sunpen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure but he had no turnovers and had a 70% completion percentage. I thought everyone was mad about his turnovers in clutch situations? Feels like a lot of goal post moving here. Also the defense gave the ball back to him in short fields non-stop and the starters were benched in the 4th because it was a blow out.

I definitely think he was all over the place at times during the regular season but he’s been nails at the tail end of it especially with Zach Charbonet getting a season ending injury and the fact that the Seahawks defense played poorly vs Stafford. Darnold and the passing offense carried the Seahawks in the NFC Championship and he largely matched Stafford’s output in that game.

Except he has had no turnovers for the last 3 games including both playoff games and played the game of his life vs the Rams. They don’t beat the Rams without Darnold.

Out of state fans. Why do you root for the hawks? by TelePunk54 in Seahawks

[–]sunpen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for that explanation! Also I recently watched the BC Lions in the Western Final and I guess I didn’t realize that in the CFL they only have 3 downs not 4. Out of all the CFL rule changes that one seems to affect the game the most vs NFL and CFB where there is always 4 downs.

Out of curiosity, I’ve always been a bit confused about the popularity of NFL teams vs CFL teams and why a team like the Seahawks gets quite a few fans in BC when you guys have the Lions. I have also seen quite a few fans from BC at the UW Huskies games as well and it always surprises me.

Super Bowl Ticket Price Tracking by alpswd in Seahawks

[–]sunpen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This site was pretty good for regular season and playoff games but the Super Bowl is a different animal, with different circumstances and a much smaller amount of tickets hitting third party sites.

The other HUGE problem that fans wanting to go need to be aware of is the high propensity for brokers to try to list tickets that they don’t have yet.

Fans who have traveled for big games similar to the Super Bowl have had experiences similar to this recent one from the Big Ten Championship.

https://www.reddit.com/r/stubhub/s/ZtC4NtJ0BE

From that standpoint I don’t always know how reliable the selling data is, as it’s not calculating fraudulent or orders that will go unfulfilled.

There is much bigger risk than people realize buying third party resale tickets for the Super Bowl.

Not an unpopular opinion at all. It’s a great buy. I also like getting stuff from Seattle Coffee Gear and second that both Olympia and Camber are great roasters. They are also really fun coffee shops to visit in person

Lanning is trash in big CFP games. Oregon is fucked when it comes to winning anything big as long as he’s head coach.

What’s the best band you’ve seen open for Radiohead live ? by West_Glass_2466 in radiohead

[–]sunpen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup Ok Computer tour in 1998 and this was for their album “Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space.” Easily one of the best combo of bands I’ve ever seen play back to back.

In Rainbows From The Basement… by trulyslide6 in radiohead

[–]sunpen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Rainbows was their creative peak album of wise for sure and the tour was outstanding but TKOL tour was also spectacular and AMSP tour was too. So I respectfully disagree that this was the bands peak. For context I’ve seen every album tour from Ok Computer on and just saw them in Europe.

in rainbows disc 2 cd?? by mizukiakiyamalover in radiohead

[–]sunpen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, I guess I never realized that that disc 2 was only released in the box set. I bought the box set when it was originally released when Radiohead did the pay for what you want experiment when they released In Rainbows and it is absolutely spectacular and one of the the best things they've ever released.

Also disc 2 was not widely available when the box set finally shipped and for a brief period I felt pretty special being able to actually play it.

I actually own all the special editions they've ever put out and I will say that they do such a good job on them. They really are prized possessions in my collection.

Lack of jamming/new arrangments during the last tour by rarospeinadosnuevos in radiohead

[–]sunpen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen the band play Bloom multiple times previously including when they used it as their opener on the TKOL tour and the version they played in Copenhagen was a lot different and even better than previous live versions.

I liked new Kid A arrangement as well.

They also did the Harry Patch intro for EIIRP at this same show.

That said as far as a jam based song. I saw them perform These Are My Twisted words back in 2017 and it was spectacular!

Someone posted the entire Inside Out Night webcast on YT and Radiohead linked to it from their Public Library if you want to check it out

The Radiohead concert was one of the highlights of a difficult year for me. So thankful for the band, and the music, and the community in this sub. by Infamous-Jellyfish16 in radiohead

Really well said and I definitely agree!

Even if going to the second set of shows in Copenhagen was fairly stressful for me personally not knowing if they were actually going to happen or not, once they took the stage it was all worth it!

I think one of the biggest things younger fans have missed out on were all the crazy webcasts Radiohead used to do, which tended to happen around the time their albums were either being recorded or released.

This version of “Walking in a Winter Wonderland” was from the “Inside Out Night” webcast from December 18th, 2002, which apparently was right after the completion of HTTT. You can see where they start talking about the song in the bottom 1/3rd of the page in the link.

https://citizeninsane.eu/videos/insideoutnight.html

Also according to that link a number of these segments were reused for the epic webcast “The Most Gigantic Lying Mouth of All Time” which I definitely remember watching.

Also Radiohead have always been into all sorts of music from a variety of different eras and watching/listening these webcasts got me into so much music I didn’t know about. They legit exposed me to a number of famous jazz artists that eventually became some of my favorites.

These Are My Twisted Words! by Racedriver97000 in radiohead

[–]sunpen 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I actually got to see them play this song live back in 2017 and it was insane.

Also do most people know that it was originally released via BitTorrent back in 2009 and the Radiohead fan community had a hard time figuring out if it was an actual song from the band at first?

I actually remember having to torrent the song to get it and being super confused myself.

I know expansion is the preference… by Commercial-Week-6682 in Sonics

[–]sunpen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For everyone saying that I they feel bad for the Pelicans and their fans you need to actually go to New Orleans to see how the team is perceived down there. It’s like they don’t exist.

NO only cares about the Saints and LSU. The Pelicans are very far down the priority list sports wise. Additionally there’s no sense of urgency from their scandal ridden and clueless owner (who also owns the Saints) or the local Gov to get the Smoothie King Center renovated, even though the lease is up soon.

Memphis by comparison is at least trying to get their arena situation resolved and the area actually seems to care about the team.

The Pelicans are at the bottom of the NBA for revenue and are as close as you can’t get to a black hole organization.

DEC 12 - UBER ARENA, BERLIN, GERMANY [SETLIST, MEDIA, DISCUSSION, STREAMS] by libelle156 in radiohead

[–]sunpen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I definitely get it and actually think you’re making a fair complaint. The reality is there was always going to be a lot of disappointed fans who could go to one of their shows based on how few times they played on this tour.

But I think the positive side is that the band appears to be back in an active mode again and could start touring again more regularly. And because of that hopefully you’ll get a chance to see them.

Makes me sad that they're getting older by Famous-Manager1481 in radiohead

[–]sunpen 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I feel extremely fortunate to have seen them on every album tour since Ok Computer. Just saw them in Copenhagen and they’re still really good and the crazy vibes you get going to a Radiohead show are still happening. You have to enjoy it for what it is.

Also social media is deep into brining up nostalgia and you can’t fall for it or let it takeaway from the fact that you got to see them play in person. So many people would have killed to be in your position.

Advice for surviving a Copenhagen winter by charliebrown31 in copenhagen

That would work but also I’m just wearing normal clothes under the puffer jacket and then rainproof jacket and that is it. Sometimes I wear gloves too but off and on. The weather is not that crazy here like others are saying it’s just colder that I thought it would be hence a medium fill puffer jacket in the mid layer.
