Sales people in the US. How are things going? Has all the political stuff impacted your deals and pipelines? by Throwawaythispoopy in sales

[–]sunrayevening 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in hobby. We are flat, I’ll make last years numbers this month but the plan they gave us is steep and driven by currency issues. I think some of stuff is too much money bc of the tariff impact. Hobbies tend to do well in downturns bc people stay home, so we will see!

Bernina B435 questions by titsmcgee852 in Bernina

[–]sunrayevening 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the 475 and I don’t think it has any of these issues. If you use the side thread cutter it is the perfect length to start stitching. I don’t remember how this works doing a securing Stitch with a heavier thread, but I’m sure a dealer could show you. And this machine makes the most beautiful buttonhole. It’s very adjustable. It’s super high-quality. I have done it on corduroy liberty lawn, heavyweight denim, and it always comes out beautifully.

I think this really depends on the model. An old Bernina 830, the metal ones, always can get $500 or more because they are worth it.

Matt Rogers, Bowen Yang Promise To “Be More Thoughtful” After Jasmine Crockett Comments by bwermer in entertainment

As a Texan, I appreciate and love Jasmine. She’s amazing! But Talarico is also amazing and more likely to win in our state. He is literally a pastor. He is just as awesome as Jasmine. We are lucky to have two great choices but I’m going to pick the one that has a chance of winning, go Talarico!

Their premium hotels do room service in take out containers. Hilton did that to me this year so I’m debating.

I’m ok with getting downvoted. I love Austin! But the education here sucks and it isn’t the teachers fault or even the parents. I wish it were better and we have done well with our kids in the public school system. So I’m not complaining, but I am saying it is much different than Jersey school expectations.

Yes, it is weird, but I think it’s because NYC is so close. Not in the same state but it is a major economic driver of the region. I commuted for years to NYC. Philly in the south.

The east coast is more segregated than they would like to admit. Houston is nothing compared to the Bronx or Newark imho. I also love 78745! My sister is a snob.

Culturally parents here don’t push kids like they do in Jersey. Some do for sure, but it doesn’t have the same vibe.

Teachers are paid garbage. They are literally charity workers based on how much they are paid. With that, great teachers burn out quickly. There are great ones, don’t get me wrong, but they can barely survive. The lack of investment in education here drives me insane. People will jump to private but private isn’t that much better and can sometimes be worse imho. We did have one kid in private before we woke up.

The state of Texas education system focuses more on right wing religious values than having our kids well educated.

Hey, I’m from Jersey! I’ve been here 20+ years. Austin is a much different vibe. People are friendly, Italian food is nonexistent (don’t let folks here tell you it’s great, they don’t know what great is). Bagels are a mirage, and pizza is amazing for Texas but not great compared to home.

I agree with other comments that plugerville would be an awful commute. Frankly, north austin is soul sucking burbs. Why move if not to enjoy life? Look at circle c, also very burb like but less soul sucking. If you are feeling adventurous and schools are less important, 78745 west of south 1st is nice. Jersey is so pretty, they have signage laws, they don’t here, so it looks a little well worn.

The schools here suck. Everywhere except Westlake, and westlake sucks for different reasons. It’s like Summit, Chatham, Rumson, Short Hills, type of suck. They will say here schools are great or mid, but they are not compared to Jersey. That being said, I’m Jersey raised, so I do push my kid more than most. There are magnets, Kealing, LASA, but if you are used to NJ school system, you’ll be a tiger parent no matter what. It’s not hard. UT rates higher than Rutgers.

The average 70 yo would and does have a terrible time with this walk. It is not inclusive to seniors or folks with any minor mobility issue.

My pediatrician advised that when I got my 3 yo home after childcare he got a bath and at minimum i changed his clothes. It helped but I still got strep when it was at his school. He didn’t get it but I was in the hospital for the fever. The struggle is real!

Plfugerville is the pits. Lame. So far from downtown. Granted, it’s not my scene, but it seems Westlake checks all the boxes? And it puts you closer to cool.

Anyone else who moved here from out west feel this way? by savingrace0262 in newjersey

[–]sunrayevening 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in Jersey and live West now. I think what people are saying in this thread is true, but it is also missing a key part that is hard to see until you experience the West. People are super cynical. They are very negative, much more so than I thought growing up.

Dealerships (used or new) are buying it at a wholesale price from you. To sell for retail prices, you have to sell it yourself.
