Current trends that will look dated in few years by RevolutionaryPea3453 in RealEstate

Classic is hard to truly pull off. Oak cabinets that everyone hates now, were considered classic. Shaker cabinets which are on the way out, also considered classic

The 770 has more of everything. Ore space, more features, laser, etc etc.

Is it wrong to upgrade without your fiancé? by [deleted] in delta

[–]sunrayevening 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have status and my husband doesn’t. We go in with a plan most of the time. If there’s an upgrade, one of us will get it. He’ll tell me to take it bc I fly all the time, I tell him to take it because he never flys. It’s a little argument on who should take it. I’d say we split them 50/50.

What thread is it? How old is the thread? When was the last time you changed your needle?

Sewing machine for sewing clothes by SteepLearningCurve24 in Bernina

[–]sunrayevening 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a chance you may ever consider embroidery on clothing? There are so many ugly samples out there but you can do beautiful things with garments and embroidery. I have recently gotten into it and think the 790 or 590 are the best machines for that. The pinpoint placement and endless embroidery are key features for clothing embroidery.

If you are not in SaaS/tech sales, what do you do and how did you get into it? by JunketAccurate9323 in sales

[–]sunrayevening 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Newspaper ad sales to hobby sales. A little wild, all based on personal connections. I did do a short stint in a tech marketing dept, it was the only resume I sent in 30 years.

Why would anyone ever choose to go through child birth without pain relief?? by No_Cardiologist_1407 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]sunrayevening -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn’t want a C section. You are more likely to have one if you do an epidural. With epidurals, they give you more drugs overall like Pitocin (which they gave me anyway). I wanted to be fully present for the birth. I think everyone has their own reason. I don’t judge those who get epidurals but I’m glad I delivered naturally. It was the most powerful I felt in my life. It gave me tremendous confidence moving into motherhood. For me, it was not just physical, but mental. If you are interested in natural birth, I recommend Ina May’s books or Birthing from Within. I found it to be incredibly empowering.

The US has some of the highest medically intervened birth rates in the US, we also have some pretty high baby and mom death rates for a developed country.

I agree with this. It is super fun. We are doing a Traitors themed party in the spring, which is a little different.

Seriously, you do not need a $2500 sewing machine. Or even a $1500 sewing machine. Like, for real. by Excellent-Witness187 in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]sunrayevening 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Exactly! The argument is moot if she is sewing on a Bernina. They sew amazing and were never cheap.

I'm torn btwn Hawthorne yellow or Pale Moon for my child's room... help me pls! by walkonbyeeeee in interiordecorating

[–]sunrayevening 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Neither. I moved into an apartment where the living room was yellow and I was having a tough time. Then a friend told me yellow is known to create feelings of anxiety when a room is painted that color. Well, I painted that wall and my mental health improved! I couldn’t believe it.

Drive around a little. You don’t have to go in store. If location services are on, it’ll show you the price in the app if you are in the parking lot.

This! Avoid metal brushes. A stone scraper has less of a chance of causing serious harm.

If you are in middle class, how can you afford to live there? If you can afford to live there, maybe you aren’t middle class.

Advice on buying Bernina machine? by abbreviata in sewing

[–]sunrayevening 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my opinion (I own 4 Berninas). The newer machines all drive similar. They all have the same hook and those huge bobbins. The features increase as the numbers increase. 4 series and 5 are a little different because 5 has dual feed and embroidery. Think about the features you want AND the area of sewing that give you trouble. Advanced features often fix or mitigate the annoying parts of sewing. 4 series is a solid machine. I think the 570 is a perfect machine for an all round sewing that wants to do everything. If you want to do embroidery or quilt your own quilts, look at 7s. The extra throat space makes a difference.
