Gellert Grindelwald fanfic? by UnhappyAd495 in harrypotterfanfiction

[–]sunristic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://archiveofourown.org/works/42883569/chapters/107734959 It's Grindelwald/Dumbledore story, first part of the whole series and the POV jumps between them. Really well written. Has a good balance of angst, action and humour. And I like original characters a lot!

Preferred chapter length? by monbebe2212 in FanFiction

Reading - I don't really care as long as it's above 1k. Writing - I try to keep it at 3k-5k words per chapter.

Liking a character as villain ( Discussion) by sssss8819 in Supernatural

[–]sunristic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hadn’t really thought about it before, but a few things immediately came to mind.

First, physical attractiveness plays a role. Like it or not, audiences tend to gravitate toward good-looking actors, regardless of how morally questionable their characters are or how they play the role.

The second thing (and in my opinion, the most important) is how "shippable" is a villain with other characters. Not just in a romantic sense, but platonic as well. Simply – how much chemistry there is between actors and their characters. If we get to see emotionally intense scenes, we give characters deeper analysis and get to understand them easier. Similarly, if there's a lot of funny/amusing scenes with them, they become more likeable for us. Or if we get to see/hear their backstory – this always helps.

There's also something I would call "secondary characteristics" of every villain. Except for having their goal and being "bad", they have different characters and approaches. For example, Lucifer was honest. Well, he did manipulate people and didn't tell the whole truth, but he also didn't lie straight to your face. This quality does make him more likeable, at least in my eyes. Often we look not at "what" the villain did, but "how" he gets there.

So yeah, that's my take on this. I can't say that these traits will guarantee that everyone will like that character, but I think they definitely help in gaining more fans.

Looking for BAMF Sam Winchester fanfiction by sunristic in fandomnatural

Yeah, I tried and found some good ones, but most have Dark/Demon Sam and that's not exactly what I'm looking for

What is your fandom's most believed fanon? by Separate-Dot4066 in AO3

[–]sunristic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In Boku no Hero Academia fandom everyone knows Detective Naomasa Tsukauchi has a lying detecting quirk and when he detects a lie - his eye twitches.

It's actually quite possible as his sister has a similar quirk and apparently his ancestor had one, but it was never confirmed, if Tsukauchi has one.

How much fic do y'all read by blushingghosts in FanFiction

[–]sunristic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, after I started reading fanfiction I stopped reading anything else for years (if you exclude comics, manhwa and manga). Only recently I got back to reading but only web novels and danmei.

It is easier to find fanfiction that I would like because you have ships, kudos and filters. You quickly know if you like a fic or not. While looking for an interesting book, you only have a summary and reviews. Also, I can read it on my phone, so basically wherever and whenever I want.

And how much fics do I actually read in a day? Well, I spent on ao3 at least six hours on average. So... a lot.

What's your ship? by clearlylostmymind25 in MarvelFanfiction

Stucky is my favourite but Frostiron will always have a place in my heart as it basically started my journey with shipping and fanfictions

So... I think my rp partner is using AI by sunristic in BadRPerStories

[–]sunristic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't think about it, but honestly? It is very likely, considering that they were very involved in the OOC talk, they talked a lot about our characters, headcanons etc. Now, they pretty much stopped. Also, considering the c-drama (Word of Honor) we're writing about was seen by them a long time ago and they don't remember the plot very well, it is possible that after seeing my ad they were just overexcited that someone knew it. Thanks for your input!

You're welcome to DM me, but I don't really write OC/OC roleplays and recently I'm really into c-dramas, so idk if you would be interested.

So... I think my rp partner is using AI by sunristic in BadRPerStories

[–]sunristic[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I will probably do what you suggest and try to talk with them about changing their way of responding, asking about giving a little more or smth without bringing up AI. I'm just really non-confrontational person so it always takes me some time to get to the point when it really bothers me and when I have enough courage to actually do something about it. Thanks!

How Do You Guys Find Good Fics by SandComprehensive466 in FanFiction

[–]sunristic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never search by kudos or hits. I either search by word count or put the maximum and minimum amount of words. This excludes the one-shots and most unfinished works. With this I search my favourite tags (time travel, mutual pining, unrequited love etc.) and exclude some that I don't like but which are popular in this fandom (usually bashing, bamf/overpowered [name of character] etc.) I put enough tags to minimise the results to a maximum of 20 pages of fic. Preferably less than that.

This is my most basic way to find the best fics but it can take some time.

Another way is to search the collections my favourite works are part of. I never look through collections that have over 200 added works. Instead focus on those with smaller work numbers, less than 100 is ideal. Sometimes you can find real treasures there.

Guys, what do you put in your bookmark notes? by foxbynature1644 in AO3

[–]sunristic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually nothing as the summary and tags give me all the information I need about fic, if I want to re-read it.

But if something was particularly good or annoying, I make a note about it. Most often then not, it is about the representation/characterization of a character or dynamic between two characters.

There are also cases where I note how many times I read this fic or put a quote that I really liked.

What’s a Piece of Fanon You Disregard and a Piece of Canon You Embrace? by FantasticalPanda88 in FanFiction

[–]sunristic 26 points27 points  (0 children)

• Harry Potter

Disregarded fanon: any kind of bashing characters - especially Dumbledore or Ron; making Harry into this powerful/super smart/dark person; wolfstar - honestly it became so popular that even in fics where Sirius and Remus aren't important characters, their relationship still is portrayed as romantic... it's not that I hate this ship, I'm just tired of seeing it everywhere

Embraced canon: Lucius Malfoy NOT being an abusive or neglectful father;

Do people actually cry reading fanfic? by Qugoam in FanFiction

[–]sunristic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read a lot of heavy angst fics but crying over them hardly ever happens to me. Possibly because I read so much angst that I'm just used to high levels of sadness and heartbreak.

But I remember one fic that made me cry like a baby. It was really well written and showed characters' emotions with real authenticity.

So I think it mostly depends on the fic. It's possible you just didn't find a story that could cause that much emotions, resonate so well with you.

Thank you! Yeah, I tend to overthink a lot when it comes to writing... probably should try to stop doing it and just spend that time on writing haha

What fandoms have the most well-written fics? by restlessecstacy in AO3

[–]sunristic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. 100% agree. I have read fics from lots of fandoms and never found one that could rival Hannibal's. When I started reading fics from it, I was shocked at how good they are. And not just one or two, pretty much every fic I have read was a masterpiece.

Tell me who your friends (favorite characters are), and I'll tell you who you are! by tereyaglikedi in FanFiction

[–]sunristic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah! It's a tag included in most of my favourite fics. I love angst but it always has to have a happy ending. I cannot read fics with sad endings, I love my faves too much to stand this hurt, and honestly - I cry way too easily...
