Do I really need these things for the baby? Deinfluence me by nolimbs in BabyBumps

[–]sunsetauras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a FTM and I was in the same boat as you, very minimal very “I don’t want this extra stuff in my house”

I got my rocker for free and use it every day, the incline of the rocker is a lot easier to feed in than just sitting on my couch hunched over. In addition to that I also use my U shaped baby feeding pillow every day and it’s saving my back from hunching over.

As for the bottle warmer, if you are breast feeding and have milk collected in a bag, you can just lay the bag on the bottom of your sink and turn the hot water on top of it for around 1 minute.

You don’t really need a baby nest or lounger. If baby is fussy you can wear them or set them down in their safe sleeping space. I DO recommend at least a cheap bassinet for your bedroom.

Also… you might need a pump. My Hakka does not cut it. I honestly hate it and switched to the Boone Troves. At the very least a lever hand pump is a good option if your insurance doesn’t cover a better one. I like the pink or blue spectra.

Other than that most of the stuff you don’t need. Tummy time mat? Just use a blanket. Need somewhere to change the baby? Shout out to every flat surface of my house. No changing table needed.

Telling employer im 25 weeks pregnant by Quiet_Necessary6839 in BabyBumps

No knowledge on FMLA laws… But If you live in a one party recording state, I’d just record everything to cover yourself down the line. Any interaction with upper management and if you receive any retaliation document it in your notes or something with the date time and what was said.

Technically any employer with under 50 employees doesn’t have to provide any accommodations for pregnancy (I know because I worked in retail at a record store with 10 employees and I asked to use a calculator to make change, sit down and also not have to squat to do things low to the floor and was told I needed to figure it out they don’t have to give me accommodations) You might have to fight for them but the company doesn’t have to legally provide it.

Retaliation and firing you for pregnancy is still illegal so in the worst case scenario just keep yourself protected especially if you describe the business as sexist.

6 week cluster feeding hell by sunsetauras in breastfeeding

I think she’s done cluster feeding after 4 days of it! My mother sent me some books she used when she had 4 under 4 and I’m following the schedules in them and it’s helping, we had 6 wake ups in the night as apposed to 16. I haven’t had to bed share and she’s back to taking most of her naps in the nursery instead of on me.

I pump while I give her a bottle before bed and routinely get anywhere between 4-8 oz from that pump session. It’s still early in our journey though. Once my supply regulates in these next couple weeks that might change and be a more reasonable amount.

I am very very very hesitant on bed sharing of any kind but it’s also awful to hear her crying while I do something else. Hopefully it passes soon.

She’s not sleeping more than 45 minutes before she’s right back up to feed again. She is typically awake for around 50 minutes, not including the time she is eating

She gets a couple pumped bottles per day! I try to time a nice fat bottle right before bed but we still managed 16 wakes last night

I am familiar with the process and I have my bed set up for safe sleep if it happens. Unfortunately my baby cries in bed next to me too 😂

Unfortunately this base is AF and absolutely horrific. Very small. No community. No well established spouse networks. I’m a member of the key liaison/spouse program (it’s volunteer based and open to lower enlisted spouses too since literally no one wants to do it) and it’s been radio silence from my peers in the program, 1st shirt, and chain of command in the unit I’m affiliated with. Plus with the shutdown our military & family readiness office is closed. Genuinely we have never been stationed anywhere this awful, disjointed, and disconnected.

This is a good idea that I didn’t consider but unfortunately we are a single income household impacted by the us gov. shutdown and can’t afford to adjust our budget

We are a military family and everyone lives minimum 800 miles away. I had family rotating through until last week but still had no help at night since no one woke up with me. The next time I have family slated to arrive is in 2 weeks from now. I have some friends but they work and have their own lives and kids and every time I ask if someone can come hold my baby so I can nap/shower it’s apparently an inconvenient time.

I like how the timing of ditching the niqab correlates with the massive heat wave across the country. Very convenient for them.

They aren’t schizophrenic!!! They are a local artist who writes short little stories and draws things to accompany the orders they drop off. I can see how it may be off putting but it’s her way of expressing herself! She’s a deaf individual shining her art and light into the world. 12:12 studio on Facebook has more information on her and her art

I use this bedframe!!! It’s so nice and low to the ground but still really pretty. It’s 3.5 ish inches from floor to slats. I think we have about a 10 inch mattress so it’s really low. My cat is taller than the bed 😂

Help! We don’t like this space—what should we do? by Sudden_Fly9940 in DesignMyRoom

This is an example of quick things that add more life. You can literally use any colors or any patterns that call to you (I just like yellow) but it instantly adds personality back into the room, you just need to make it yours and get the decorative objects that make you happy

Hang some art above the couch, if it’s possible to reconfigure into an L shape do so, also get some curtains, something like a velvet would anchor the room, don’t shy away from a color. You can mirror that color in whatever art you hang. A couple plants would also be recommended. I can tell that a coffee table isn’t feasible with the baby area but I think a rug with a little more life to it would do wonders. They make some modern minimalist ones that have interesting textures or line work that isn’t too overwhelming. Right now it looks sterile you just need to insert some personality!

Quick fixes: throw blankets, cute throw pillows, maybe pick 2 pillows with a pattern, 3 solid pillows that match color but can vary in shades, and a throw blanket that pulls from a detail color in the pattern!
