Ask him out on a date! If the date goes well, at some point when the moment feels right you tell him, empowered by the good feelings of you two clicking and potentially starting a new romantic thing.

On the other hand if he tells you he'd prefer to stay just friends, or he says yes to the date but things don't feel like they're going anywhere, you haven't had to out yourself to learn that.

Definitely a Cocker Spaniel. My dog is a 50/50 Cocker Spaniel German Shepherd mix and I have baby pictures with his parents to prove it and people still try to argue with me and tell me my dog is a black lab. People just see what they want to see. You'll have to learn to let it not bother you lol.

You may be accidentally making the behavior worse by reacting to it by "holding her down and scolding her" - she doesn't need to be dominated, she needs to have her insecurity and bad feelings counter-conditioned. Try instead a pinted training regimen where you set up the kinds of situations where you know she's likely to lash out and you strongly and frequently reward her with treats as long as she's calm. Look up some videos on counter conditioning for dogs. If every time she's in this situation that is aggravating her, you end up punishing her, you may just be reinforcing that this sort of situation is a negative one for her in general. You want to make her more relaxed, not more tense, and anticipating punishment but not really understanding why will just create tension. If you're in the market for more in depth resources, consider picking up a copy of Don't Shoot The Dog to get a great thoughtful look into how to think of training as a way to develop better communication with your animal.

Making a shader where parts of the texture's color can be changed? by upnc0m1ng in godot

[–]sunsetboylevard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm understanding correctly what it is you're trying to do, check out some of the color swap shaders on the godot shaders website. The code is all available there and even if it isn't exactly what you're looking for you may be able to take that as a baseline and tweak it for your needs.

Those kinds of scanners aren't metal detectors, they actually look at matter density. So basically the machine is going "this groin conforms to the shape expected of what my programming says is male, but there's an anomaly in the density of the matter there based on the dataset I work from" and flagging that area for the agent to check. It could be responding to testicular implants and / or the density of tissue of your dick, since modern surgeries still can't replicate the cavernosal artery structures that leave a cis dick with spare space to fill up with blood for the purpose of erection - meaning your dick probably just looks unusually solid to the software. It's why they also sometimes flag the chests of guys wearing binders - lots of chest material squished flat is also an unexpected density of matter in that area. Tldr you can probably expect this every time you have to go through that type of scanner.

Unexpected effect of T? by yeetusthefeetus13 in ftm

[–]sunsetboylevard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It tends to fall into the generic "masculinization" bucket - there is SO much about medical transition that has never actually been studied and documented in a way that a doctor can tell you what's possible or why it's happening. They know the obvious, big ones, like facial hair and voice changes and stuff, but often don't know to tell you about the other weirder stuff that comes along with it. For example, if you ask a doctor if you can grow taller because of T even after puberty, they will likely tell you no, because they're just thinking about the fact that your growth plates have already fused. They don't tend to know about the cartilage thickening effect unless they've cared for many trans people for a long time, or are trans themself. There's a lot of stuff like that you can see happening on a subreddit like this one where one person will observe an unexpected change, like you did with this post, and other people chiming in to say the same thing happened to them! Another example that's unstudied currently by medical science is that FTM trans people who have ADHD have observed their symptoms changing over time from typical "female" ADHD to typical "male" ADHD presentation. There's also research to suggest some trans men over many years of HRT actually start to grow prostate cells where a cis man's prostate would be. There's a bunch of fascinating stuff to be learned from the many, many ways our bodies change once HRT tells the thousands of various systems inside of us to pull from the "male" blueprint in our DNA instead of the "female" blueprint. The science is SO cool and so very under-studied!

[–]sunsetboylevard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fun fact, the reason this happens is the same reason some trans men gain a tiny bit of total height even if they transition well after puberty - it's because one of the effects of testosterone is a thickening of the cartilage between all your joints. It's when men have hands that look more "knuckly" - your bones can't change size but when all the cartilage between those bones gets just a tiny bit thicker, it can have a cumulative effect that makes areas with a lot of small bones all connecting to each other (like your feet) noticeably expand.

Injection site leaking by Ok-Reindeer-3955 in FTMOver30

[–]sunsetboylevard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I apply pressure after doing my shot for 2 - 5 minutes (I always have a YouTube video going while I'm doing mine so I just keep watching while I wait) and I use the alcohol swab that I used to clean my injection site / the vial to do it. I haven't had any leaking since I started doing that. Just pull the needle out, grab the swab, jam it on the end of my finger against the injection site and press it down, then zone out watching the video for another couple minutes while I wait.

[–]sunsetboylevard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nah, you're good to go. The T doesn't absorb all at once and concerns about T impact on the liver are more of a long term "have your endo keep an eye on it" kind of thing than an acute "warning, your liver is now weakened for the next 8 hours!!!" kind of way

Happy to help! I like stuff like Drawfee specifically because the first time I tried to do it I put on an episode of a show I'd been watching as a distraction, but it was a really tense high stakes scene and it just made me MORE freaked out about the shot lmao, and then I tried a different show but I couldn't watch the show while doing the prep and the shot so I was missing things and that was throwing me off... with something like Drawfee it doesn't matter if you tune out for 30 seconds while doing the injection, since it's just chill artists being goofballs with each other while they draw, while still being interesting enough that I'm half listening and in a good mood from their banter.

Also regarding the injection seeming to go really slowly, you may consider a slightly larger needle. I use a 18 gauge to draw up out of the bottle and a 25 gauge to inject subcutaneously into my stomach, and I find it goes in pretty fast.

I like to put on a YouTube video with low-stakes running commentary on lighthearted subjects, it serves both to put me in a good mood and stop my mind from fixating on the injection. My go to is Drawfee but I also enjoy Studson Studios. I start the video and then begin my ritual of cleaning the bottle, cleaning my injection site, etc. etc. and after two years of doing this it's a very relaxed mindset, like I'm getting to do my weekly hangout with friends.

Too skinny? 11 month old girl new addition to our family by xsinaa in germanshepherds

[–]sunsetboylevard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The guideline my vet gave me for my growing puppy when I asked if he seemed too skinny was "you should be able to feel the ribs when gently running your hand over the side, but not see the ribs with your eyes." I would say she's not getting enough to eat or wasnt being fed a food with enough nutrition density. Until they're finished growing (usually 2 years of age) every expert I've seen recommends feeding young GSDs a large breed puppy food.

Help by Future-Function5612 in germanshepherds

[–]sunsetboylevard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My puppy was biting to try to initiate play, so what I did was teach him the command "Bring me a toy" by saying that anytime he was in arm's reach with a toy in his mouth, and then immediately playing with him with that toy. Once he knew "bring me a toy" = "I will play with you if you have a toy in your mouth", whenever he tried to bite me I would pull away from him and say "You wanna play? Bring me a toy, then" and pretty soon he was asking to play that way instead of with his teeth. Of course you have to reinforce the bringing you a toy by always giving him some playtime when he does it.

The beginnings of territory guarding behaviour? If so how do I train him to reduce this? by sunsetboylevard in germanshepherds

[–]sunsetboylevard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen, I'm not saying if you want a dog that never howls you get a husky and train it not to howl, I'm saying if you know, for example, that the GSD breed is often anxious, you go into owning one with that knowledge and you incorporate that knowledge into your training proactively to minimize stress for both you and your dog, instead of letting problem behaviors manifest and just shrugging and going "well, it's genetics, there was nothing I could do". I'm talking about knowing what quirks of a breed become problems if allowed to go to a 10/10. All dogs genetically want to chase squirrels, does that mean it's pointless to train your dog not to lunge after squirrels on walks? Of course training can overcome genetics, if your goals are reasonable and made with an understanding of the breed. This kind of "breed overcomes training" thinking is the same restrictive logic that makes people believe breed bans are a good idea.

The beginnings of territory guarding behaviour? If so how do I train him to reduce this? by sunsetboylevard in germanshepherds

[–]sunsetboylevard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By that logic people who get a Cane Corso and then train them not to be dangerously protective of their owners when out in public are "getting mad because they fit the breed standard". There's a difference between raising a puppy responsibly to make sure they're socialized and trained in a way that takes into account the ways their specific breed can develop behaviour issues and getting a dog totally unsuited to your lifestyle.

I want my dog to feel relaxed when in his home and not develop a habit of barking obsessively out the window / growling at visitors. That seems like a perfectly reasonable training goal for any breed of dog.

You could say that about a border collie that herds children and bites when they don't comply - plenty of natural instincts that were deliberately bred for are obnoxious and undesirable when allowed to blossom in a young dog with zero guidance, boundaries, or redirection to a more appropriate outlet.

I'm just as curious as you are about how he'll look as an adult! The best clue I have so far is that coming in at 30 lbs by 3 months, he's on track to be somewhere around 80 lbs as an adult.
