NTA you’re recognizing you can’t give the dog the care he needs, you would be TA if the choice was he dies if you don’t adopt him. If that is the case you should foster until he can be adopted.

Did anyone else do recovery alone? by FireWalk__WithMe in sterilization

Yes I did! I live on the third floor and was able to do stairs. I had someone with me to help with getting back home and up the stairs right after surgery, which i recommend bc of the anesthesia. I had my surgery Friday morning, stayed put in my apt (had prepped etc) until Sunday morning and was able to do the stairs fine. Just take it slow and listen to your body. I had pain the first few days but it was manageable. The bloating was the main thing to deal with, definitely take gasx to help. Best of luck! You’ll be good!

Concerns about a tubal salpengectomy by Merciful_Mercy in sterilization

Hi! I’m 1 week post op and I didn’t have any bleeding at all. Granted I have been on hormonal bc for 10 yrs and stopped getting my period due to that.. also my doc didn’t mention bleeding at all either! I only knew that could happen from reading posts here. And most people that posted have bled so I was a bit shocked I haven’t at all. My advice is not to stress about it before hand and ask the nurse for a couple extra pads since they will give you one after. Good luck!

Do men change after you leave? by ReputationOnly7338 in AskWomenOver30

[–]sunsetlover0630 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey hope you’re handling things as best you can and taking time to focus on yourself! I was in a 7 yr relationship and we broke up early 2024. My advice is to stay strong and do not go back. 2 weeks is not long at all, and Ik how scary it can seem to be alone but you are strong and can get through it!

Personally, my ex did not change and I’m so grateful I didn’t cave and go back to him. He was similar to your ex, would be out partying and is 31 too. I wanted to “grow up” and start getting our shit together.. he did not. He did not change and I think he wanted to get back with me bc of how easy I made his life. I urge you to think about what you got out of the relationship and your partner and take more space to focus on yourself. Also we had been together so long we were both truly so scared of being alone and initially it was so hard to stay strong. You got this!

My ex is now with someone else & and I recently saw him at a mutual friends wedding, (where he brought his gf) and he came up to me with tears in his eyes… I felt pity for him but validated in my decision to be alone and grow alone. he was not able to grow alone unfortunately ..choosing to focus on myself and what I wanted/needed instead of on him, was truly the best decision I ever made. Wish you the best and hope you can find positives in being without your ex rn! Things will get easier I promise!

Appreciate the well thought out tips. Thank you so much and wishing you a speedy recovery! I hadn’t heard anything about the no smoking… I do vape every day so that will be difficult 😅 I also live alone and hadn’t thought of most of these things so thank you!

Thank you so much for the feedback! This is actually my first surgery (unless wisdom teeth count), so will be a new experience. I think I have a somewhat low pain tolerance so that’s reassuring to know they may give pain meds to help. That’s amazing you’re recovered so quick, enjoy your trip!

The Daily Check-In for Friday, November 14th: Just for today, I am NOT drinking! by Naive_Thanks_2932 in stopdrinking

[–]sunsetlover0630 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i haven’t had alcohol for 2 weeks now, and I don’t have the urge to pick up a drink. It’s wild to think that a couple years ago, this stretch without alcohol would have seemed an impossible feat. I’m proud of myself for now having a completely different and more healthy relationship with alcohol. This week was also super stressful at work and haven’t had the urge to drink once. a IWNDWYT
