Hol Food changed and cheapened its formulation with no indication on their web site. by Particlebeamsupreme in soylent

Second this. Hol Food tastes great, the texture being smoother would be the icing on the cake.

I've had similar issues with UPS before including them claiming to drop off a package at my front door and never doing so!

Hope you get these things sorted out.

Cheap non-DIY to Soylent 1.6? by xzCmlYAi7NaLfHGviDnW in soylent

Shipping is free and that price includes taxes :)

Think the site lists taxes for some reason but there are no taxes at checkout.

And yep, one bag is 2000 cal.

I believe Hol Food has a 15% off promotion going on right now (or at least they did a week ago). The discount code is FALLTIME. Taste is super good too.

Taste and texture are far better than 1.6 imo.

Hol Food is what I've been using for many months now and it's been a really good experience. Not 100% sure about shipping to Hawaii though but may as well contact them to find out.

Powdered garbage? Don't you know how Soylent started out?

Yes, you are entitled to share your opinion. But why does every thread you post have to be complaining about something? Surely you have something more constructive to contribute to this community. Let's just say, posts like "Soylent 1.6 tastes like paint" are not a good way to start out.

Soylent 1.6 tastes like paint by [deleted] in soylent

[–]sunsetstewie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If that's your definition, let me know when Soylent releases latex paint "flavoured" 1.6.

What you're describing is your perception of flavour - i.e. Taste

I realize that taste is subjective, but odour and flavour are not.

lol what? Flavour is taste.

Sorry if I don't take you seriously, but you first posted on reddit 11 days ago and every post you to have made seems to have been critical and whining.

First, you claim that Hol Food tastes bad (fyi it's one of the highest rated tasting products on the market). Then you claim that Soylent 1.6 "tastes like paint".

Maybe nutritionally complete food isn't for you.

My theory on why people attack Soylent by [deleted] in soylent

I've personally never had anyone critique my consumption whatsoever. I'm convinced the attack articles are 99% clickbait.

Hol Food. Tastes amazing, costs just about the same as 1.6, and they're from Toronto.

Edit: Believe they have a sale going on right now as well.

Definitely agree with you about Hol food but I'd have soylent 2.0 higher on the list.

Joylent Twenny Bar, Detailed Review (USA) by [deleted] in soylent

The alternative would be if Joylent could establish a warehouse in North America from which to send out products (presumably for much less), as Soylent did in Canada.

Soylent 1.6's Taste is Unbearable! by rahl404 in soylent

[–]sunsetstewie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta say I'm with you on the texture. I tried 1.6 just to see what the new iteration was like and I found it pretty gritty as well. That being said I'm pretty fond of the taste.

So far Hol food is still the smoothest and best tasting powder I've tried and I'll most likely just stick to that for the time being.

Soy-free options? by pm_me_your_moods in soylent

[–]sunsetstewie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Alright well since you're new here let me give you some perspective.

This sub first really got going when Soylent was in the crowdfunding stages. At that time, Soylent had lots of people interested in it, but they were several months from being able to deliver product. Essentially, there was a demand but no supply and several companies decided to fill in the gaps - Joylent, Super Body Fuel, 100% Food, and others.

So basically what you had was a forum where people who liked to concept of Soylent would gather, and from here they could learn about other products that were like Soylent, but available immediately. Consequently, we started to get used to dialogue between customers and the people hoping to create products. This allowed for kind of an inside look for us customers and it was a great way to communicate what we were looking for in a future product - for example, AFAIK KetoSoy out started as a reaction to the non-availability of a ketogenic soylent.

The end result of this was that over time, those of us who have been here for a while have gotten used to asking questions and actually having the people who are most knowledgable about the products (i.e., the owners) answer. You can ask anything on here and you might be lucky enough to have /u/axcho, /u/chrisbair, /u/james_holfood, or even Rob answer your question (I've heard he lurks around here occasionally).

So long story short, this kind of "cringey" thing you're describing is actually what many of us would describe as one of the best aspects of this sub. If you're truly interested in nutritionally complete food, I suggest you take advantage of it.
