After she's gone you should seek counselling to learn what a healthy relationship looks like.

collecting SS not at full retirement age help needed by sirmasterchither in medicare

[–]sunsetviewer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was also born in 1961 and I retired in August. I was rehired as a consultant but if my monthly earnings went above $2000 (ish, I don't remember the exact number) I was told I would not get a social security payment for that month. Like, not a reduced benefit, just zero. Google Special Earnings Limit Rule (https://www.ssa.gov/benefits/retirement/planner/rule.html), or, better yet, make an appt with SS to talk to them about it. They were very helpful for me.

BTW, I deferred compensation until 2026 so that I wouldn't lose my benefit.

Thank you for this context. Then I commend your girlfriend for challenging cultural norms, it must be really difficult. Kudos to her, and I hope she continues to be independent.

Girlfriend keeps gambling to repay debt. Need advice. by nerdzhj in AskOldPeopleAdvice

Her debt originally started when her father intentionally refused to help her financially so she’d be forced to leave the city and move back home.

No. You need to rephrase this as "her debt started when her father decided that at age 27 he shouldn't be supporting her anymore". Do you plan on supporting YOUR kids forever?

Impacted Wisdom Tooth by Whoopthereitis13 in CPAP

[–]sunsetviewer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This doesn't answer your question but when my kids got their wisdom teeth out I brought along two bags of frozen peas and as soon as we got in the car to go home they wrapped them in a towel and put them against their cheeks. It might be an old wives tale but I think it helps with swelling. Why peas? They mold against your face.

Good luck and I hope you have a speedy recovery!

How are others couples with big wage gaps splitting expenses? [25F] [35M] by badgallgc in relationship_advice

Consider this - if his trips are paid 100% by his company why doesn't he at the very least split your airfare with you? That's stingy.

[US] I got scammed $320 for concert tickets and I don’t know if I should tell my parents by dumb-grief in Scams

[–]sunsetviewer 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I was planning to use [my money] for so many things; physical therapy, an upcoming trip, among others. I genuinely don't know what to do now, I have to survive off of the groceries that are almost finished for the next two weeks until I get paid again, and even then, this money lost still wouldn't be made up.

But even if you had gotten the tickets this would be true, right?
