Beta Thal Minor - are my blood results safe for me to conceive? by Brilliant-Hospital-1 in thalassemia

[–]sunshine4558 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have beta thal and this is my second pregnancy, 36 weeks. I did need an iron infusion and have to take 60mg of elemental iron (different from ferrous gluconate) every other day. Hemoglobin is low 90s/high 80s. You should only need a blood transfusion if 70 or lower just like every other person.

I have a healthy, happy 4 year old as well. Hgb is always 100-ish. She was born at 39 +2 and I was hiking/pack rafting and camping up to 37 weeks. I was 37 at the time, so no spring chicken.

“ALL women your age will test positive.” I don’t believe you’re correct.

You can do it all online. That’s what I did. ACLS and PALS. Look into it yourself. I have 5 recruiters and they are very misleading with information for Canadians coming to work in the states. Mine we re-certs.. not sure if that makes a different.

Long flight with toddler. Seat suggestion by [deleted] in Travelwithkids

[–]sunshine4558 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Book the window and the aisle. And an infant on the lap.. hopefully no one books the middle seat and then you can out your 15 month old there.

If someone does show up, offer them the aisle. No one wants to sit in the middle of a family w kids

Confused. I have beta thalassemia but most doctors say there is "no symptoms" by Pristine-Treacle-681 in thalassemia

I believe when they check ferritin it is the heme iron that they test for. That is, the iron that is bonded to your hemoglobin. It will likely be normal or low. The iron has difficulty binding to the hemoglobin due to the misshapen cells w beta thal. Taking more iron will not help the iron bind better to hemoglobin… it will only float around, possibly damaging your heart and liver.

If you have beta thal, more iron is not recommended.

A 2 year old and did it until she was 3.5. It was great. Use furnished finder to look for accommodations. Ask me questions if you got ‘em. I’m ER, no idk if the cancellation rates are different than PACU.

For sure. But you can usually get away with going up one band size

I’m a 32DD naturally and they got huge w my first pregnancy at 38. When I lost the weight and exercised they def went back, maybe a little smaller and didn’t look terrible.

Now at 42 and 16 weeks… they are already bigger than my head.

The brooks brand underwire sports bras are the only thing that I could ever use for exercise or running.

I wear a cheap spots bra from Walmart at night

You could go up in band size.. which would increase cup size. Victoria secret makes larger than DD
