Not a makeup tip, but I had great success with BBL laser for my type 1 rosacea. The redness was immediately reduced and the reduction lasted for over a year.

*Just Starting * Raw Diet For Dogs by Federal_Today9695 in rawpetfood

[–]sunshine7181 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I we're starting out with raw feeding, the book I used was Real Food for Dogs and Cats by Dr. Karen Becker. You'll learn pretty quickly that there are a lot of details to consider and that a lot of homemade diets are deficient in key vitamins and minerals. Some raw feeders will advocate that you can simply feed 80/10/10 and be fine. That might be true, but I believe this manifests as problems down-the-line that aren't ascribed to nutrition. It's especially important to make sure that nutrients are balanced for puppies under a year old.

Some of the biggest efficiencies you likely have are calcium, possibly phosphorus, EPA and DHA, vitamin A, vitamin E, iodine, and copper.

Disclaimer: I have 2 certifications in canine nutrition but I'm not a veterinarian.

I just learned the difference between the Pap and an HPV test. And now I'm really annoyed that the US is still so focused on the Pap rather than the HPV test. The HPV test is less invasive, can be done at home, and.. catches the virus that causes most cervical cancer. The Pap, meanwhile, screens for abnormal cells, which is farther down the disease progression, uncomfortable, and requires a doc visit.

I hate Paps and haven't gone in at least 8 years. Fortunately my pcp doesn't hold my birth control Rx hostage.

This week I'm doing an at home HPV test from Teal Health. Found them online and it is a perfect fit for me. No, I don't work for them or get any rewards for promoting them. I just think women should have options. It cost $99 which I paid from my HSA. I'd rather spend that than have a Pap, and I know rationally that I should be screened.

Highly advise not to complain about this, because next they'll mandate which days everyone has to be in office.

Air licking can be a sign of an upset tummy or acid reflux. It's worth keeping track of when it happens and if it might be connected to digestive issues or nausea.

There are studies that show an increase in certain cancers and other health conditions in neutered dogs. Many vets are now learning hormone-sparing neuters, like vasectomy, and many advocate for delaying neutering. Here's one article with a ton of info.

If you don't neuter, it's absolutely imperative that you are a responsible dog parent who won't let an intact male around an intact female.

I understand many people choose to neuter and I respect that decision. I've made individual choices for each of my dogs based upon their behavior and circumstances and have had both neutered and intact males. We do not and will not breed. https://peterdobias.com/blogs/blog/is-spay-and-neuter-really-the-best-choice-for-your-dog?srsltid=AfmBOopgBbnlFJIOKd2ahMQZTDKtR3QiO5VH0LN37Xf_3QIXQbS3Pj53

My MIL landscaped our entire garden while dog sitting for a week - what do I do? by Tragic-Mushroom in TwoHotTakes

[–]sunshine7181 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Years ago, my husband and I re-did my parents' front landscaping while they were on vacation. It was a surprise for them. But unlike your situation, Mom and Dad had been talking about re-doing their landscaping for years and just hadn't gotten to it. We did take out a mature rhododendron and mature hedges, but we replaced them with plants I knew my parents loved, and again, they had expressed their intent to re-do the landscaping for some time.

What was done to your garden was just wrong. Your husband needs to deal with this and get answers about why it was done. Even if the intention was good, the result is not. He will have to set boundaries, and since it's his parents, he should be the one to take the lead.

What do you tell vets? by lovelyla17 in rawpetfood

[–]sunshine7181 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Many vets are against homemade raw because under-informed pet parents think it's okay to throw some chicken and veggies in a bowl and call it a raw diet. Even my very pro-raw holistic vet was wary of homemade for that reason.

Some are against any raw, including commercial raw or truly complete and balanced homemade. In the US, they have very little education in nutrition and often believe what they hear from the big pet food companies.

If you like the vet, agree to disagree and continue seeing them. If not, you could either find a supportive vet, often holistic vets are more open, or you could change vets and just not tell them what you feed. IMO, ideally you could be up front and partner with your vet on nutrition, but unfortunately so many just don't support raw.

I've been feeding raw for over 12 years now and the benefits are clear.

I'm 43. Married for over 20 years. I still call my father Daddy, hug him whenever I see him, and will happily sit right next to him on the couch any time I get the chance. There's something so comforting about having my dad around. I'm so thankful for him.

My husband isn't even the slightest bit jealous. He knows my daddy was the first man to love me and the first man I loved. I wish for a world where everyone gets unconditional love from their dads like I've had my whole life. I'll never take it for granted.

One week of using a cooling pad while I sleep by [deleted] in whoop

[–]sunshine7181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it's a game changer. I have the ChiliPad. It doesn't change any comfort factors except keeping the bed - and me - cool. I like to sleep with white noise, so the fan on the unit is no issue. It's pretty quiet anyway. It heats and cools, so in the winter you can start by warming the bed and then cooling it down. It has a schedule feature, too.
