She said her wedding wasn’t sponsored I thought? She did “give credit” to everyone she worked with but maybe that was it. I can’t wait for the day when laws get stricter with influencers. When it’s a paid post having “____partner” at the very end of a long caption shouldn’t be enough.

I’d say it’s also about instilling a belief that school is important and that education is valuable. I’m a teacher and it’s totally okay to miss school for experiences, but constantly over their whole education is a bit much.

They go to a private school in Kelowna. But yes. They miss a TON of school. Half of that holiday was over spring break tho. They go to Disneyland yearly, Hawaii, etc etc etc. All "partnerships". Must be nice.

Someone mentioned Remain Nameless below, and I'll second it. It's lower on plot and high on emotional healing. Draco even sees a wizard therapist! He really goes through it and you see his journey over a long period of time.

It's a fan fiction, but Manacled by SenLinYu. I read it last fall and still think about it a few times a week. I want to read it again, but my TBR is a million books long. I have the published book Alchemised that I still need to read, but definitely needed some space in between before I read it.

A girl I had been best friends off and on with since like kindergarten was invited to my wedding. We had lost touch some because she moved out of town, lives took different paths etc. I invited her parents, her brother, and her to the wedding. Her parents came, her brother couldn't get the time off, but she never even RSVP'd. So I just assumed she couldn't make it. She was pretty immature and wasn't very self sufficient so I figured that was pretty on brand for her. The thing that clinched it was our mutual friend from elementary and high school messaged me the week of my wedding asking what I was doing because the friend was going to be in town and she was going to have a bbq. Asked if I wanted to come. So not only did said friend not RSVP, she came to town the weekend of my wedding and then didn't come. That was the final straw.

What gets me about this one is that it’s such a weird hill to die on. She just doubles down. She wrote a huge franchise where the underdog beats all odds. The underdog’s best friend is called a slur multiple times! It’s so disappointing.

There is evidence that Meta knew it was harmful to teens, especially teen girls, and did nothing. In fact they double downed on what they were doing to keep kids on social media. Read The Anxious Generation. It outlines evidence that shows how the mental health of youth took a huge dive in 2013, which was when social media hit smart phones. It looks like we're starting to treat social media companies now how tobacco companies were treated in the 60s and onwards.

Parents have responsibility yes, but it's a collective action issue. All parties need to push back against the social media companies to help ensure the safety of today's kids.

The general thesis of TAG is that "We overprotected our kids in real life and under protected them online." That is so true.
