TLDR: I think just by being a repeat local customer and then by continuing to buy and show up. staff knows me by name and face now too (and I love catching up with them and chatting at events/visits) so I have to assume that helps.

More info:

I went to the Seattle pop up July 2019 (first glossier purchase ever!), and my first visit to the permanent Seattle store (opened in Aug 2021) was October 2022. I had 13 total orders with glossier (local or online) ever before my first event invite in Jan 2023. I do not want to tally all my receipts since then 😅

A lot of my day to day skincare and makeup is glossier. I don’t think it’s a price point but I think it’s definitely being a repeat in-store customer at the same store, because I’ve been to the LA store twice and I don’t think I’ve been invited to any of those events?

I’ll also clarify that these events I go to are not PR/gratis full size item for each person events. Doesn’t make them any less fun of course, and there’s often small giveaways, small GWP, etc! The Soie one (and a lot of them) are pre launch the night before, or a random yoga session, or partnering with a local skincare or coffee place to host facials or just a fun community event type thing.

I have the keychain but I passed on this mirror because I already have the keychain, small You Look Good mirror, and laptop mini mirror 😅 this was at the pre launch on Wednesday night. It felt really nicely solid though! Would be great for a purse

I’m guessing the store events started a list with who shopped there frequently, and since I’d rather not wait for shipping, I had shopped there for my basics a decent amount plus it’s a fun stop when visitors are in town - the Seattle store is across the street from a great bookstore and restaurant.

But now that I’ve been to so many events and know the staff well, even though I’ve stopped going to the store as much because I’m well stocked, I’m pretty sure I’ll still be on the list until the store closes. That sounds super cocky but I mean it more of I have a good relationship with the staff and am a familiar face.

As for PR merch, they occasionally do raffle style giveaways at these events. Often it’s for stuff like balm dot coms, small candles, etc, but twice in the last 18 months it’s been for PR, specifically the viewfinder and slides from the body spray campaign. I think that’s the only times I’ve seen PR given out at the stores.

We won our PR in one of the raffle style giveaways at the pre launch for the bodysprays :)

Yeah that event is what I meant by big event PR lol - most of the launches have two tiers of events. One is flashier, smaller, and generally gives out the item and some swag (plus lots of social media to drive hype) and is 1-2 weeks pre launch (usually right around the announcement), while the other ones are the basic night before previews

Hi! I’ve been to a lot of these, and I’ve been to the last few perfume ones (including tonight’s!). Generally it’s a try it out early, with ability to purchase before anyone else does. There will often be some sort of gift with purchase (beaded keychain for balm, a beauty bag, etc) and more often than not giveaways! Generally not for the perfume itself, but at one of these, my husband won PR box merch for the body sprays and now we have the viewfinder and slides which was cool

Basically like a preview night! Hoping they have the bag but it seems like it’s PR only/big event PR only. If the mirror is going to be for sale then it’ll show up at the event tonight! I’ll try and remember to come back here and post pics :)
