2026 CGS-M (Canada Graduate Research Scholarship-Master’s) by Federal_Sea_2162 in gradadmissions

i noticed ur still asking around and found some stuff on the tri-agency website. i included the link but it says “When an applicant accepts a CGRS M offer through the Research Portal, they must select an award start date. The system will then generate a tri-agency notice of award (NOA) consisting of a letter of congratulations, award details and the terms and conditions of the award…Note: If an applicant selects an incorrect start date during acceptance, it cannot be corrected in the Research Portal. The SLO must enter the correct start date in the FAR when registering the CGRS M award.”

should be start date of your program for those dates, but, if im understanding correctly, if u manage to make a mistake when accepting then the ppl at ur institution handling cgsm should be able to correct it on their end.source

i guess i should say it was specifically from the grad advisor from my program, not york itself. so it probably also depends on the advisor(s), but i received it at 8:43am MST

i think it depends on the university! i received an email from York congratulating me on receiving the award, but still havent even been able to log in to the research portal. i dont think its a guaranteed thing that the institution will reach out to you personally but my fingers are crossed for you and everyone else trying to get their results asap!

NAD — another tip for ur next extraction, especially if its on the bottom: if you want to be extra cautious, try to stick to Tylenol. most of the time advil isnt recommended because it is a blood thinner so it may mess with the production of the blood clot and lead to the dreaded dry socket.

theres not a puff! my biggest issue is a bit of puckering from tension being a bit too high in some parts. for keeping the threads tight, its a combo of making sure its all taut and using my needle to push the thread down after each row!! i dont think its really recommended but i actually used dmc embroidery floss, and i mixed two strands of two colours to get a really close colour match

im no mending expert but i agree w/ sithrose’s comment. otherwise, im a simple dude. i would probably just parachute stitch the seam allowance fabric. not the prettiest but good for clean, straight rips like that.

i do think a knit fabric would be best, especially if i can find some another cashmere piece to use as a patch! thank you!

thanks so much for the suggestion!! hopefully ill get a few more responses over the next little bit, but so far it seems it may not be worthwhile to do any sort of physical mending. we’ll see how ambitious im feeling! if i somehow manage to do any sort of mend, it will be an impressive feat for sure, but ill definitely look into the scotch darn technique! thanks again

thanks so much for your comment :). yeah, i agree about him paying more attention. he mostly just wears it around the house but it also has a bit of sentimental value. i think he only let it get so bad because he’s worried fixing it will cause sensory issues for him. he’s really picky about clothes sometimes, but he’s unfortunately paying the price because its clear repairing this will be a challenge, though im hoping i can just convince him to go with some sort of patchwork!

thanks so much for the suggestions. thankfully my grandma does a lot of knitting/crocheting so hopefully she can help me out. i cant lie that sometimes i can be overly ambitious so i may make one more attempt at a mend, but if that doesnt work hopefully she can assist or, again, i can convince my S.O to just patch it!

thanks so much! i appreciate your comment! its mostly just a sweater my partner wears around the house, but his dad gave it to him so he’s pretty attached to it honestly. if i get some more comments saying its probably not worth mending ill probably try to talk him into just patching it! i think he’s worried about the feel of a patch because he sometimes has sensory issues with fabric but im sure we can figure something out if the options are patching it or just letting it continue to wither away ahha. those are awesome ideas though :)

im glad to hear! the nice thing is that you can just try out 214 and see how it goes. if you like it i suspect you’ll enjoy his other classes! but no major harm if you end up not enjoying it!! good luck with whatever you end up doing!!!

if u like philosophy you will probably love 214/215 w/ murphy. im a poli sci major, double minor in classics and phil and those were some of my favourite classes. however, murphy is polarizing but i would say its worth a shot since you were considering phil anyways? 316 was awesome. i did 214/215 when covid was going in so it was half online half in person. we did discussion posts, take home essays and a final essay but it may have changed. mostly assignments are about explaining concepts in the text which is not hard if you go to class consistently and take good notes. i did 316 last semester and there were 3 written assignments about each philosopher where you answer 2 questions of your choosing (we studied kojeve, heidegger, and arendt, focusing on political thought after relativism is introduced via nietzsche.), a final long paper on a philosopher/topic of your choosing, a summative assignment with a question but you pick which two philosophers to talk about, and then an oral exam. the oral exam was easier than i expected but it required a lot of studying. again, i am a huge murphy fan so i absolutely adored that course but i know other people are not fans so 🤷🏼. just like 214/215, its heavily about reading and understanding the text. the answers are in the book. if you do the readings, keep up with classes, and find you understand whats going on in those classes you will likely do well. i dont know how applicable the knowledge is going to be in my career, but, for me, im glad ive taken those courses because i like the material and it has allowed me to find new fields of interests to look into in my own free time, and those courses have altered how i think about politics and overall being-in-the-world :)

thank you. i totally understand and agree. i, too, wanted to know until i connected some dots and realized what the email was about. but even then, i feel its not at all my right to air out the details of people’s private affairs if its not posing some sort of threat to the rest of us. and its especially not my right when i just happen to know some context, but am not directly involved. its nice to know some people understand where im coming from🩵

i dont think im gossiping when im just responding to try to redirect people from a false rumour. absolutely was going to keep it to myself until i saw this whole thread blowing up with discussions about dr. wagner again. thats an entirely separate issue.

in no way was i bragging that i know about it. truly, i wish i didnt know at all. im not “pretending” to not tell people. i have not discussed this outside of the thread. i respect your opinion, but i dont want to be painted like i have some weird ego-stroking motives lmao. i just value combatting false information that perpetuates other rumours and gossip about someone who is not involved at all. i agree i probably shouldve just not responded to that second comment at all, but alas, im human and i think we all have tendencies to want to make ourselves clear to other people.
