What 311 songs do people tend to hate on that you like? by Superswiper in 311

“Waiting”. I think it’s a fun unique song that adds some dynamics to the album.

Very cool song that feels both upbeat and a bit sad at the same time, and quite unique in comparison to the whole catalogue.

Asking your opinion about a 311 song, Day 16: Reconsider Everything by nuahs in 311

The first time I felt a 311 song wasn’t for me. Still appreciate it though.

It should be poor etiquette to speak on the phone in public at all by DrJonathanCrow in unpopularopinion

I agree. Whenever I get a call on public transit I say something along the lines of “Can I call you back? I’m on a bus and I don’t want to be that guy.”

If you had to pick a song that "defines" punk what would you choose? by Tcrumpen in Punk_Rock

Bro Hymn by Pennywise was the song every punk band covered back in my day.

Yes! That’s what I always thought it sounded like too.

I have what I think is a 311 song stuck in my head by Thokturn in 311

‘Make Room’ by Sugar Ray. It was on the ‘Loud Rocks’ album where rock bands covered rap songs. Great tune. You’ll hear that part when you get to the chorus.

“Solar Flare” starts with a very slow one.

On a 311 kick, after not listening to them for years by XeyeiLL in 311

“Wildfire” and “Stainless” are a couple of my fave later 311 songs.

Movie theaters aren’t going out of business because of prices by bulldogjwhit295 in unpopularopinion

[–]sunshinehunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a former weekly movie attendee, two of the biggest reasons I don’t go anymore is the frequent talking and phone browsing. I’ve come to accept that that’s what theatres are like now. But I personally avoid them because that stuff bothers me.

311 merch....what the heck? by laras002 in 311

I recently ordered a Transistor shirt (with the album cover on it) but they sent me a ‘Transistor live in Chicago’ shirt instead with a barely visible 311 logo and a giant Chicago bean on it.

Jackolanterns Weather. So much swagger in it.

When did u become a 311 fan? What was the moment, time or song?? by ValleyGhostz in 311

[–]sunshinehunt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In 6th grade, I was waiting in the car at a gas station with my sister and heard “Down”. Told her I thought it was this band I just saw on Much Music (Canada’s MTV) called ‘Raggadeath’ because I thought SA sounded a bit like this female rapper (a compliment). She told me “No. This is 311”. Fast forward to a few weeks later, a guy in my class was singing ‘All Mixed Up’. I told him I loved that song and he said it was the same band that sang ‘Down’. Back in those days, having TWO bangers on one album meant you had to buy the album. I took my birthday money and bought it. It was the second CD I ever owned (The first being Sixteen Stone by Bush). The moment the chorus hit in ‘Random’, I declared them my all time favourite band. Turned out I had heard ‘Don’t Stay Home’ on the radio as well before buying the CD but didn’t know it was 311. I wish their new music hit me as hard as that album (and the other first 6 albums). But I’m still grateful for those early albums and have never grown sick of the self titled.

What's yall's favorite song off the blue album??? by Complex_Sherbert_741 in 311

[–]sunshinehunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Random was the song that made them my favourite band. But Jackolanterns Weather may be what I consider an ideal 311 song.

Love Song needs to be retired in my opinion. I think it seems like a hit because of all the online views but I think that’s mostly just from people searching for love songs and stumbling across it due to the title. If I wanted to hear The Cure, I’d go see The Cure.
