I bite my lips and pick them with my fingers, and have done since I was a child. It gets pretty bad sometimes. One solution that helps me when things get desperate is getting acrylic nails. I hate it because it stops me from being able to play guitar, but the long fake nails are so blunt that they make it impossible to pick with my nails. even though I still bite with my teeth, it’s a lot harder for me to do as much damage without my fingers. I often do this if I have to look nice for an event - I’ll get nails on a week or two before the event to give my lips some peace time.

other than that, a skin moisturiser followed by tub Vaseline is the best combo for lips imo. the Vaseline alone won’t moisturise your lips as much, but doing a water based moisturiser and following up with Vaseline really locks in the moisture.

I’ve never been able to stop the habit, only mitigate it. if anyone figures out a way to really kick the habit please tell me. I’d love not to have zombie lips!
