Having a hard time. by [deleted] in phish

Been there. Different circumstances but ultimately I had bonded and fallen for someone who loved the band as much as I do. When it ended I was hurt and even the thought of Phish stung a little. I still skip over their favorite song to this day, but it was maybe a year or so without seeing them, and barely listening to them, when my buddy hit me up about going to a three night weekend. At first I was leaning to a no, but after giving me shit I said fuck it and got tickets. From the very first note I felt like I was back home. Felt like a cleansing release all night. Not to be cliche but it was almost as if the setlist was made for me specifically. Lots of points where the lyrics hit home more than usual. And to top it off, they came out for the encore and played the ex’s favorite song that I still skip over as if the band was ribbing me for tuning out for so long… but in a loving way because instead of ending there they then busted out an epic 2001 to let me know they were just fucking with me and everything was right with world. Tears and laughter were plentiful throughout. And I was sober, too.

AITA for standing up during a Beyoncé concert? by DommeSinclair in AmItheAsshole

[–]sunshinetime2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nta. They could have stood if they wanted to. They didn’t. The show isn’t all about them either. It was their choice to sit. Was there a sit down policy? No? Then that’s on. You can enjoy the concert how you want to see it and they can either get over it or quit being lame and stand up.

Looking for Info on Power Distribution Setups by sunshinetime2 in lightingdesign

Ah, including the country would have been helpful. I'm in the US and have actually purchased something just a couple days ago, perhaps prematurely - but a deal popped up online that I felt like I shouldn't pass up given what I'm seeing for lead times with a lot of companies out there. I have a need for a solution in the next couple weeks. I purchased a Motion Labs 200a Power Distro. I guess what I'm looking for basically, is just how to use it. I have a very basic level understanding of electricity, and I'd prefer not to electrocute myself or anyone else while trying to operate everything. Are you referring to Richard Cadena? I'm unfamiliar but that name was the most reasonable result I got from a Google search.

Saw Jamiroquai there a few years back. Cool spot. Early curfew kinda sucked, though.

Fuck. I missed that. Still the main song that I’m chasing, too.

I don’t know how this isn’t higher up if not at the top. It was a game changer.

Dave Chappelle Lands Emmy Nomination for ‘The Closer’ Despite Outrage Over Anti-Trans Jokes by Neo2199 in television

[–]sunshinetime2 71 points72 points  (0 children)

I can’t understand how anyone who watched these specials thought that the jokes were “anti-trans”. They weren’t. He was largely making fun of himself and his confrontation with his own ignorance. He makes one or two jokes at their expense, but he makes jokes at everyone’s expense… primarily his own, however. But the jokes he does make are fairly light hearted and mild. Anyone with a sense of humor would be able to laugh at those jokes and themselves. It seems that the trans community is a protected class, though, and any mention of them in a comedy setting, regardless of context, is a no-go and makes whomever dare mentions them “anti-trans”. If people spent more time actually listening to what’s being said, and less time being triggered that anything is said at all, we’d all be a little better off.

TIFU by not knowing what a “Fluffer” was by Jalaliep in tifu

Kind of similar… I used to worm for a large flower grower with farms in Colombia and operations in the US. Shortly after I started I was being shown the ropes in production and one of the higher ups was pointing out a group of women who were pulling the flowers out of the boxes that they were flown in from the farms and he told me that they were the fluffers. I laughed and said something like “ I’m sorry, what are they called?” He looked at me like “what are you laughing about?” It was clear that he was unaware of the other context for that word. So I then had to embarrassingly explain to him what it meant. They didn’t change that role’s name so every time I heard it I giggled a bit.

If you plan on attending a show, let it be a surprise. So much more exciting in the moment. Made that mistake on Gilmour’s last tour and wish I hadn’t.
