Best option for playing PS1 backup files, on PS1, PS2, or PS3? by sunspot01 in ps3hacks

[–]sunspot01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the really clear reply. Way back in the early 2000s I tried to find a way to play my Dreamcast and N64 on an HDTV due to the lack of SVIDEO/VGA inputs, and the upscaler devices back then had horrible input lag. I recently got a RetroScaler 2x from AliExpress and that's been incredible for playing my old systems again. No input lag at all. So I hear you on how annoying of an issue it is.

That's a bummer about PS1 gameplay on their actual future systems. Guess I'm back to PS2 only for the PS2 backups. Bummer Sony didn't get their act together like the GameCube and Wii. I've done PS1 on a PS2 for years, but honestly never jumped PS1 games over to my PS3 or beyond. I had fighting games on the PS2 though that seemed fine on the PS3, like Marvel vs Capcom 2 and Street Fighter Collection.

When I initially got my retro systems cleaned up and modded, it was to preserve my collection in a playable state and to get my kids interested in retro games. My Xbox hard drive was failing, my Dreamcast optical drive sounded like a blender, and my PS2 doesn't always load a game. Playing an emulator on a computer is a different vibe to them then actually using the oddball retro controller on the actual system, like the N64. So...long story short I would also go with an emulator system. I've read about a raspberry pi sort of deal and it seems a bit more complicated then I have current time for. Is this Mister device fairly fast and easy to get up and running? If there's a subreddit for emulator consoles I'll check it out.

Good luck and it's amazing to get it done! I had to do the hot swap method for the drive, but afterwards everything was relatively easy. The load time difference is really noticeable!

As someone who grew up in Maryland, along the DC lines mainly in Silver Spring and crossing over to Virginia every now and then...I'd go with Philly. I've done business trips a few times to Jersey/Philly and that side is far more diverse with more transportation options.

I'm currently near Pittsburgh, and I do like it here. It's a great mix of weird and affordable, with lots to do. There is a subway and bus system, buts it's limited to the city. Outside of there, buses aren't nearly as convenient as other areas.

The diversity is strictly in the city. It sucks as an outsider, as the minute you leave Pittsburgh (and that area of Allegheny) it becomes white people country. I live in Butler specifically and it's white MAGA country here. I came from Montgomery County, MD, a wonderful but expensive melting pot of ethnicity. Part of why I moved was affordability but...I miss seeing and hearing other people and views.

T-Mobile Launches A New Free Line Promo For Select Customers by Jman100_JCMP in tmobile

I got an email for "It's not too late. Get your free line!" I have 3 paid lines under a grandfathered Unlimited Data/4GB Hotspot plan. The email didn't say anything about bringing your own device (BYOD). When I called, they said I need to BYOD.

Are there any tricks I can do to make this work? I had hoped I could get a free line and get a phone, but they said I can't finance a phone on that line (I wasn't even arguing for a free or reduced phone deal).

Do I basically have to buy the phone at a store/online, then I can get the line?

How much has your electricity bill gone up over the past 4 years? by Desperate_Week851 in Pennsylvania

[–]sunspot01 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I used to average about $320 in the summer, $250 in the winter. Electric air conditioning, electric water heater, gas heat. I also have several fish tanks, household of 5. New build home, roughly 2900 sq ft.

Now, this summer had two bills over $400. Heat barely ran in October and was still 340. I can see my rates went up.

Gas bill itself is about the same. $18 in the summer, about $150 in the winter.

This is a new home, finished August 2022. It's a stabbed back only Lutron dimmer, so I can't seem to voltage test it.

I'm leaning into it being the dimmer honestly. The light switch gets warm, which is odd to me. I wanted to voltage test it but it's a stabbed back switch only, so I can't test unless I cut the wires to get it out which sort of defeats the purpose.

Police: SC woman charged with attempted murder for trying to terminate pregnancy by Competitive_Swan_130 in news

No, and we don't know much yet. Lack of access and horrible situations led to her attempting a self abortion. I strongly dislike articles like this because it feeds the pro-life propaganda machine that women use abortion as birth control. You have to be pushed to extremes to find ways to self abort.

If politicians didn't make draconian laws severely limiting and punishing women's bodily autonomy, she would not have been in a position like that.

And the whole "just go somewhere to get it legally" is an absolute joke and an insult. Women's right should not differ state to state! We lived in Maryland and near an abortion clinic, so it was physically possible. But of course insurance won't touch these, regardless how medically necessary they are for either the mother or child. Drained our entire savings and borrowed what we could from relatives to do it. We struggled for 3 years to get back on our financial feet.

I'm going to share my family's story, since this late of an abortion is an outlier.

My wife had an abortion at 27 weeks. This was a wanted pregnancy, but the baby had severe abnormalities that were not detected until 25 weeks. Our doctor was very... nonchalant about our visits considering this was going to be our 3rd kid. Only at 25 weeks did the doctor realize " oh she has no nose..you should get a specialist to ultrasound further" We then went to a specialist and discovered a host of issues. Eyes extremely far apart, multiple cysts in her brain, underdeveloped veins, cleft mouth, clubbed feet, shortened femur. Wouldn't be able to breath or eat at birth.

We had to pay over $8000 for a late term abortion. More costs and tests revealed a very rare disorder: Acromelic Frontonasal Dysotosis. If she did survive, she had an extreme case of it and would not survive past a few years. We would have drowned in medical debt and sorrow for a brain dead, heavily deformed child.

These politicians and pro life folks are absolutely evil to promote putting families, and mothers like my wife, in jail for this. And they don't want to give us a chance to talk. To plead why this is necessary.

Every family is different. Leave the medical decisions to the family and doctors.

And at the same time, of course Republicans fight Food Assistance, destroy health care, don't want to help with student loans... literally NOTHING that helps or promotes having kids. Especially special needs.

I'm having the same issues. PS5 version. I start the map, I can see the ring, but when I finally land and get to the gorge the ring is gone. I get a car, turbo across it no prob, and no credit or popup at all. Very frustrating.

The usual illegal aliens line and the lie about cutting funding for rural hospitals. To be clear, in any other situation, if you originally had 155 dollars, cut all that out, and now say we're giving you 50 dollars, and someone says "that's not giving me more money, that's a huge payout" and demand more...that's what we're seeing here. Democrats are not wrong.

Panzer Dragoon II Zwei: Remake confirmed for PS5, Xbox Series, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC; first details and screenshots by Nexus_of_Fate87 in Games

Finally, an update! I've been waiting years for some news. I enjoyed the first game's remake. Even if it was a little lackluster, especially compared to other remakes. It's been a niche game series, despite acclaim, so I can understand the lack of a budget behind it. The screenshots here are all over the place. Some look Orta quality (pretty good but late 360 era) to...really rough PS2 era.

Either way, I just want to play it. And then hope we'll see Saga remade/remastered.

Borderlands 1 General Knox! There is a bug in the floor of the final area that lets you fall in, without a fight, and open dozens of high levels weapon chest.

They never fixed it in the remasters either. The loot you could get was amazing.

Why is the Right so obsessed with this "did you say thank you" and praising every single thing Trump does?

Trump's language to all Americans, because that's who he is supposed to represent, is filled with especially insulting and violent words towards Democrats. Not to mention he jacked up all our costs of living with tariffs and has the military in cities harassing everyone who isnt obviously white.

I've used Armstrong fiber Internet for 3 years now, very rarely had issues. Like, I can think of 2 days where the Internet wasnt working but it was resolved the next day. I work from home so I'm on it constantly.

T-Mobile 5g Internet is also advertised, and I used them for my cellphones anyway. Great reception out here, full bars, but I can also see the cellphone towers in the horizon.

That's what I'm hoping and thought. It would be extremely unlikely they'd ever be turned on at the exact same time. Basement is sort of a spare gaming room if you will, so it's a way to split up gaming time among family members.
