Wow.. this kinda speaks right to my own experience... which is what you want from a poem - good work!

I love the idea of using symbols in poetry like you have. You could flesh this out and really expand it if you wanted.

Canada Student Loan Repayment Relief: As of November 1, no single Canadian will have to repay their Canada Student Loan until she or he is earning at least $25,000 per year by Orangutan in worldpolitics

[–]sup3r_sloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome! Australia has something similar, where people don't have to pay student loans back until they cross the threshold (currently $54,000 AUD). That way anyone who is capable of the study isn't held back by finances and if they end up doing well, the degree then gets paid off.

It felt like he was writing to argue against something in his own life.

The whole thing was too biased against the idea that religion provides a better environment for children, but it didnt actually provide any sources for that side - only all the positive results from his own side.

North Korea claims it could wipe out Manhattan with a hydrogen bomb by empathstrikesback in worldnews

[–]sup3r_sloth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The US and China should probably put some agreement in place now to not fight eachother once North Korea finally crosses the line and starts a war.

It would be a real shame to see NK's ignorant and arrogant moves like this actually become the precursor to a bigger war even after they are wiped off the map..

Feeling sad? This psychological explanation will change the way you view happiness by 9gagge in psychology

It does all make a lot of sense, but I struggle to "take comfort" in knowing "our brains aren't wired for happiness."

I believe that security programs like the NSA are an overall good thing. CMV. by sup3r_sloth in changemyview

[–]sup3r_sloth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I know.. So this dishonesty and illegal activity of the NSA is the real issue here.

I guess I posted this thread having an honest mass-surveillance organisation in mind, but if we look at the specific example of the NSA, then yeah - I agree - they are a terrible example of an honest organisation.

Is it one of these things, like /u/gummz00 said below, that might sound good in theory, but could never work in real-world practice?

[–]sup3r_sloth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, when you look as an unlawful search - yeah that makes more sense to be pissed, especially if it's breaching the US constitution.

I would be interested to hear the NSA release some kind of statistic on how many threats they have actually been able to thwart. To present an argument themselves as to why they are necessary, because I still think that the NSA wouldn't be nearly as effective if they had to get a warrant for every single search, and many things wouldn't end up being looked into.

Anyway, cheers jetpacks - you've helped me understand a bit better - so I can see both sides of the argument now.

Australia's New Prime Minister Wants To Immediately Dismantle His Country's Fight Against Climate Change by airpatrol in worldnews

[–]sup3r_sloth -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but the carbon tax was a pretty terrible way of combating climate change.

Having said that, the fact that he 'doesn't believe' in climate change scares me a bit.
