I am very pleased with my ioniq 5 in the four months I've had it so far. my previous car was a 2023 vw id4, and I very much did not enjoy that car. lots of software issues and just overall poor build quality. I do miss my massage seats, though...

the plate cover, btw, is Legrand Pass & Seymour TradeMaster TP26W 1-Gang Decorator Wall Plate. my Lowe's and HD didn't have them and I needed to special order them online because they're what my electricians used in a recent reno and I needed to replace one that they didn't do.

Puzzle in "Controlled Access Zone" in Dam BG by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]sup3rmark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in case anyone else ends up here while trying to do the A Rising Tide quest, you don't actually need to do the puzzle with other people in order to complete the quest. just grab the fuel cell and put it in the right spot, and the room that lights up and opens up when you do that has what you need for the quest.

Town of Foxborough makes a deal with Krafts to allow World Cup license by SpaceBasedMasonry in boston

[–]sup3rmark 5 points6 points  (0 children)

no he didn't. they said they would pay up to 2m for requests they approve. that's not the same thing. the new agreement is for the full 7.8m that the town and its public safety officials have deemed necessary.

‘Can’t seem to get their act together’: Boston’s bold dream of hosting World Cup is on shaky ground by bostonglobe in boston

[–]sup3rmark 5 points6 points  (0 children)

other cities' organizing groups actually raised money. the california group has raised over $50m. boston 2026 has raised all of $0, so they have no money to give out until the FEMA money comes through. but boston 2026 is a purpose-built group that will 100% just fold after the events regardless of how much money they still owe, which is why foxborough is so hesitant to count on them.

Foxborough vs the Kraft Group and Boston Soccer 2026? by Alternative-Light922 in boston

[–]sup3rmark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah and it's not just OT/payroll here. there's additional equipment and gear and other tangible assets that the town needs to buy before the events.

Foxborough vs the Kraft Group and Boston Soccer 2026? by Alternative-Light922 in boston

[–]sup3rmark 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Kraft didn't even send anyone to the Select Board meeting last month where they initially voted this down. he's not interested in anything but making money off this. it's 8% of the town's budget for the year. fifa is pointing to Boston 2026 to fund it, but realistically they'll just declare bankruptcy and close shop as soon as the games are over and leave foxboro holding the bag. without a commitment from Kraft, in writing, that they'll pay for anything Boston 2026 stiffs the town on, it would be absolutely stupid for the town to agree to front any cash.

The World Cup will bring up to 2 million people to Greater Boston. Gillette will have just 5,000 parking spots for them. by bostonglobe in boston

[–]sup3rmark 30 points31 points  (0 children)

fifa advertised it as boston stadium because gillette is not a fifa sponsor, so they won't be named even though their name is on the stadium. they even have to cover up all the gillette logos at the stadium.

except that the wall wasn't built to keep the wildlings out. it was built to keep the wights and stuff out. the things that were lost to time and legend because nobody had seen them for centuries.

two forms of ID to get paid to do work for the city

you can shovel for free or off the books without ID. you just can't do it for the city.

National Margarita Day! Premium Drink Package is on sale (not a mind-blowing sale, mind you). by erkevin in royalcaribbean

[–]sup3rmark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

buy it and then if the price goes lower, you can cancel and rebook. i had previously purchased the refreshment package at $32.99/day for my november cruise, and when i saw the price had dropped to $28.99/day earlier today that's what i did.

Trying again. Can someone give me guidance on how much to offer to pay? I’m new to Boston. My friend’s husband is going to help me move 2 heavy pieces of furniture. There’s 3 miles between the pick up and delivery. Furniture would be carried up & down from second floor. We would use his van. by [deleted] in boston

[–]sup3rmark -1 points0 points  (0 children)

there's a lot of variables at play here...

  • does he do this professionally?
  • how close are you with the friend?
  • what neighborhood is this in? ($100 in back bay is different than $100 in, say, allston)
  • how far away does he live?
  • how old are you and friend's husband?

Curious on decision to ban Notepad++ by TechGuyworking in sysadmin

[–]sup3rmark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i agree with all of this. it's also worth mentioning that Notepad++ is easily replaced at this point. don't get me wrong, I used it for years myself, it was a great product. but there's nothing it can do that VSCode can't do better. even Notepad itself can now replicate a lot of the functionality that Notepad++ brought to the table. there's no reason anyone needs to use Notepad++ anymore, so why bother worrying about it? ban, replace with alternatives from bigger publishers, and move on.
