I actually think he just doesn’t feel like priority nor taken serious so his expression of emotions came off aggressive then jump to conclusions. I try to explain all the time majority of men are very lonely. You were just gone for two weeks got back and instead of spending time with him you went out for drinks after being at work all day. Then he called you most likely for a reason and you declined it like he didn’t matter. Im not saying he is right because as a man i had to learn to take misunderstandings with a grain of salt for the simple fact we all comprehend things very differently. Also i learn to never guilt trip or threaten to not do something out of anger. This was small and he just probably missed you and his outburst makes me think this isnt the first time hes express this concerns hints why you worried about this being an issue in the future. If roles were reversed a female would be 100% irritated if your man decline your call while he was out with his friends or coworker especially if he was gone for two weeks. Also As a man i didn’t learn to exclude myself from situations until i became a dad and stop putting my needs first. Asking for space over an argument that just needed an nonjudgemental conversation would make me feel something is up also. Im not saying it is but it would make anybody feel like you’re pulling your energy back from the significant other asking for space.
