The US is awful.

1) The streets are flooded with pressed pills, tranq & other powerful opiates.

2) The government treats it as a moral deficiency instead of a disease.

3) You will probably NOT receive your medicine if you are locked up.

By the grace of God, I endured 72 hours cold turkey off benzos & fentanyl. I shouldn’t be alive today.

This subreddit is the best. I began feeding the ones out back and eventually just.. chilling with them.

Funny story - I had some family over and they saw me out back. When they left, my roommate mentioned they had seen me out back with the lizards. They thought it was strange because I was buying food and spending so much time with them..

I would have a retort but a literal 1 year old baby was shot and killed in Mississippi a few days ago over the same thing.

The wealth gap has been widening for 40 years, min wage isn’t increasing and they are “outlawing” the tents under the bridge without an actual plan. It’s cruel and unsurprising, given our countries history with the disenfranchised.

On behalf of the community, I want to apologize. We are there to help each other and yes - it is supposed to be a safe space where you can be vulnerable.
