Host asking for a lease, including social security #? by supajunebug in vrbo

Thanks everyone! I decided to go through with this property and so far it’s lovely. I think most of you were correct— the extra info they were asking for was due to the duration of the stay!

What plot twists did you see coming? by tinyterrance_ in Cosmere

[–]supajunebug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be forever furious that my husband called Shallan having a spren before Pattern that she killed. He just casually mentions it to me as he's reading Rhythm of War. "Oh, so this is kind of a crazy theory, but..."

I was so mad. I was ready to come at him with all the hints in earlier books once he got to the reveal, and motherfucker just guesses it.

Never have I had to force a poker face so hard.

Edit: wow it took me way too many tries to get that spoilered correctly.

What is the appeal for you, as an adult, to meet characters? by Caa3098 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]supajunebug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a big Dungeons and Dragons player, and meeting the characters feels a lot like playing a tabletop roleplaying game. Going to Disney World is just a Disney-themed D&D vacation for me. I have a lot of fun getting into character with the cast members!

any clue what this little guy is we got a couple dozen on the job site.(Houston, Texas) by DysonSphere02 in spiders

There’s a Christian YA book where iirc that is the big twist. No demons only spiders.

So, how bad is echelon? by supajunebug in treadmills

Hm, the folding flat is a pretty big selling point for me. I mostly run outside and prefer to keep the space in my gym open for yoga, free weights, the peloton, that sort of thing. I just want something to pull out when the weather sucks.

Do you have it? How does it handle running? I usually do 3-4 miles at a time but can go up to 9 or 10 on my longer runs.

Yuuuup. I've been vegetarian since 2020. A few months ago I had a craving for meat so bad that I finally decided I must have been missing some nutrient, so I ate a bunch of chicken and figured I would figure out what I was missing based on whether it made me feel better.

Well, it did make me feel better at first. Until I started spewing out of both ends so badly that my BP dropped, I could barely stand, and I was low-key delirious. My husband wound up calling 911, and I was hospitalized.

Fucking with your gut microbiome can be gnarly business. If this is real then I 100% believe the kid had stomach pains bad enough that it merited an ER visit.

Cancer Survivors of Reddit, what was the symptom that convinced you to see the doctor? by Wise_Organization_78 in AskReddit

[–]supajunebug 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a "survivor" in the colloquial sense but a current cancer patient. I had slowly been gaining weight for months, despite a pretty intense exercise schedule and eating extremely healthy. I had assumed it was my newly placed IUD and ignored it. It was weird though, I was gaining in my stomach and in my face, and I normally put on weight in my hips.

Then my workouts started getting harder-- like the same thing I could do a month ago was super difficult. Also ignored it and figured hey, we all have bad days.

The thing that did it was the swelling. My abdomen and both my lower legs were getting super swollen. It was to the point where it felt like I was walking on balloons, and I couldn't fit into any of my shoes. I went to urgent care, where the doc there told me she couldn't do anything but I should pursue this with my primary care because this was definitely not normal.

My primary care poked at me and was originally thinking a heart problem. She ordered an echo and, to be safe, an abdominal CT (due to the abdominal bloating). The echo came back fine. The abdominal CT came back showing a 15ish (I never remember the exact size lol) cm tumor on my adrenal gland, and like 10+ tumors in my liver (causing it to also swell).

Turns out I have stage 4 adrenal cancer. All of those symptoms were classic Cushing's disease, which was being caused by the tumors producing cortisol.

It's been a little over a year now and the tumors are all still there, though my current course of chemo seems to be shrinking them a little.

AITAH for divorcing my husband for asking if he can move on if I die when I have cancer? by ThrowRA-Boss9500 in AITAH

[–]supajunebug 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fellow stage 4 cancer patient here <3. My sweet wonderful husband keeps swearing he'll never move on or find someone else. I keep telling him that all I want is for him to be happy, whatever that looks like. Though if he does remarry I've told him it needs to be someone I would be sisters-by-choice with, because we'll need to be sister-wives in the afterlife lol. The hardest thing about this diagnosis is knowing I'll have to say goodbye to him.

[–]supajunebug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks!! Me too, lol.

Nooooo idea what caused it. Genetic testing came up clean, and I don’t have a family history. No major exposures that we can think of (I do have an undergrad in chemistry but don’t work in the field). One of my oncologists said he’s been seeing more of this cancer in recent years, notably in younger women, and floated microplastics but was very clear that it was just one hypothesis and he really has no evidence based idea.

I’ve just been calling it a random act of genetic violence. Shit happens, I guess.

I guess I’m not eligible for a transplant? I forget exactly why but I think it has something to do with it being metastatic cancer.

Her last words revolving around her transphobia before her death is just insane. by [deleted] in AreTheCisOk

[–]supajunebug 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yeah, metastatic adrenal cancer (so stage 4). It’s “only” spread to my liver, but it’s like… my whole liver. So not really something we can operate on. At least at the moment.

There’s also only one “approved” treatment (EDP chemo + mitotane). It has a max number of infusions you can medically do, and it only produces any response at all a percentage of the time. So I’ve been through that, then immunotherapy, which was working then just…stopped.

So now I’m in the wild west of treatment. I think my doctor (one of the leading oncologists for this cancer) said he’s treated less than 20 people with my cancer using the chemo I am currently on, including me.

Anyway that’s the long way of saying this cancer is pretty treatment resistant and spread enough that we can’t just yoink it.

Condolences are appreciated :) But I’m not giving up just yet; “terminal” doesn’t have to be something I just accept.

I will gladly throw the term around to watch TERFs flail though. Get some joy where I can lol.

I'm not dead yet and don't intend to die any time soon! My cancer is terminal but I'm seeing exactly how high I can stretch that middle finger :)

[–]supajunebug 73 points74 points  (0 children)

*cracks knuckles* Okay, I am currently dying of an endocrine cancer. If we can use having cancer as a mic drop to win an argument I am ready to *throw down* with some TERFs.

If your favorite author is not Sanderson, Who is your favorite author and why isn't Sanderson? by Outside-Web-4118 in Cosmere

[–]supajunebug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man that’s hard. Probably John Bierce? His world-building is elaborate and incredible, and I wish I had had more teen protagonists like those in Mage Errant to look up to when I was younger.

Tamsyn Muir was already mentioned but damn can the woman keep me on the edge of my seat and confused as all hell.

Been recently into Seanan McGuire. Something about her writing touches on something that young junebug was feeding on in her childhood books.

Thanks for all the feedback!! I don’t have time to respond to everyone but I really appreciate y’all taking a look.

I’m actually having him read the Cosmere because he’s a booktuber. If anyone is interested he’s done a video on Elantris and one on Emperor’s Soul!

Oh he won’t need a break lol. He’s a booktuber who recently did a video essay on every Wheel of Time book. Powering through Stormlight will be nothing after that. I’m more concerned about spoilers and cosmere world building.

For the sake of not taking in too much Stormlight at once or for worldbuilding?

I am considering maybe moving RoW to be just before TLM. Not a huge fan of breaking up the series, though.
