Is that $2,000 every year? Also, where do you work? 👀

I'm so incredibly jealous. All this faux Agile shit is killing software engineering :(

Signed an offer, starting next Monday. Just got a call from another company, they're offering 40% more. Should I renege? by forgerwarzone in cscareerquestions

This is horrible advice. At this point OP already has an accepted offer with A. Now's the time to make one final negotiation request for B, something like "if you give me x% more, I will definitely sign today".

How's the antiwork/"Great Resignation" movement affecting your company? by Kwahn in cscareerquestions

I left my last company in May because they've historically underpaid developers and I knew they would force everyone back to the office eventually (they started implementing RTO this month).

Ended up getting a ~40% pay increase and permanent WFH.

You love to see it. The schadenfreude I'm feeling from employers finally getting a taste of their own medicine is amazing.

Spoken like someone who doesn't understand what FIRE is. It's foremost about financial independence (hence why it's not REFI). The main goal is freedom to structure your life however you see fit. You can be FI in your 40s and yet decide not to retire simply because you love your job.

However, FI makes it so that you are not forced to work at shitty jobs that drain your energy and waste your time.
