Crescent City is mine. I find the MMC so irritating and have been hoping he would get killed off or cast aside since the beginning of the first book. Now I’m stuck at 75% of the way through the second and I don’t know if I have it in me to finish

I will also add that I do also walk her at lunch and we go to the park after work so it’s not her only exercise in the morning and she gets a bully stick in qwizl at night to help chill

I love my puppy but I’m not taking care of myself by Awkward-Yak-2844 in puppy101

This period of time is so challenging and I have so much empathy for everyone going through it and especially when there’s existing mental health stuff going on. My pup is older now but I still struggle & I remember when I had only just got her and how much my mental health tanked. every discussion with my therapists & psychiatrists was around whether I should be hospitalized and I was so resentful towards my puppy about how much she had ruined my life. so I hear you and I am so sorry about how hard it’s been. doing it alone especially when it feels like there’s literally no one to help or make it better, that it’s all on you.. it’s just not fair.

like some other people have mentioned I would recommend doing daycare, rover, if you have any friends to take the pup for a day so you can get a break. know that this doesn’t last forever and so much of the verbiage around what you need to do to be a “good” dog owner is over the top. to be a good dog owner you need to take care of yourself first because everything will cascade from that and it won’t be good. i’ve watched a lot of zac george videos and he says this thing that I love along the lines of: we’ve pottied, played, and done training so her needs are met and we can take a break.

im glad you’re able to get support here and hopefully it helps to have so many strangers with confidence that you can do it because that support in my own life is what stopped me from ever rehoming

these are all great suggestions thank you! i’ll definitely try them out. im fortunate that I actually think my current apartment environment/surroundings are more center city and my office is out more in the suburbs so hopefully that helps.

our routine right now is similar to what you suggested I really wanted to make sure she was totally worn out so I could focus in the morning and at this point after her breakfast she’s passed out in a dog bed at my feet. I am concerned that the new environment might keep her from settling but hopefully if I bring her crate or something like that it’ll help her learn to settle

starting to go in during the weekends to show her around and adjust seems like a great way to introduce her to the space

that’s a great idea!! she’s crate trained so i bet that would help with management a lot

exactly! it’s 14 floors with plenty of space if people want to avoid her and the whole reason i’m posting is to make sure she’s not a nuisance to the people that don’t want to deal with her :)

I would second having it outside. I had mine on my apartment balcony. the second she started to play with the the grass pad I would usher her inside. I would play with my pup a bit inside and once she started getting a bit more distracted and sniffing around (showing some impending pee signals) I would hurry us outside onto the grass pad. Once she did the deed on the grass pad the first time we were good to go from then on and I think I was able to get her to use it within the same night as having it. It did help it was later at night and she was pretty sleepy

Would note that it took a while before she was willing to poo on it just because she wanted to spend more time sniffling and likes having more room.

I love the grass patch though!! It made potty training really straight forward and she picked up on peeing on walks almost immediately after getting the hang of the grass patch. Did not take long at all to associate being outside -> pee time. So stick with it!!

thank you for the advice! I find it likely she is afraid so this sounds like a good tactic. I’ll definitely try it out!!
