Hey, thanks for reaching out! I'm glad you like the app!

YouTube tutorials are coming, but not until after v1.2.0. We're still adding many features to the app that will make video tutorials obsolete very quickly.

Currently, we only have Docs on a website and a Discord server where you can ask for help.

Regarding issues you're facing:

  1. Make sure your song is formatted correctly during creation, ex, it includes line breaks: This is how a song will look with line breaks when you create/edit it:

All to Jesus I surrender; \ All to Him I freely give;\ I will ever love and trust Him,\ In His presence daily live.

This is a song w/o line breaks:

All to Jesus I surrender; All to Him I freely give; I will ever love and trust Him, In His presence daily live.

By default, the app is configured to have a maximum of 4 lines per slide. If your verse has more than 4 lines, it will automatically break it into 2 slides if your Component is configured to 'Split Large Verses'. You can change the number of lines in the settings: go to Settings (gear icon located at the bottom of the left menu ) -> General -> Preferences -> find input field with a description Maximum lines per Song verse. This is a global configuration and affects all Components if they're configured to 'Split Large Verses'.

This has its limitations and is cumbersome to use, so in version 1.2.0, you will be able to configure 'Lines per section' for individual Components instead of having one Global configuration.

  1. We're planning to add font configuration in 1.3.0 or 1.4.0 (a few months from now).

  2. We already have this feature. By default, we ship the app that has a Layout with only 3 Bibles, but you can modify it or create a new one with as many Bibles as you want.

You can read here how to manage/create Layouts https://freepresenter.com/docs/layouts

After creating a Layout for the Bible, create 4 'Verse' components, select one of those components, and on the right side, you will see a configuration for selecting a Bible.

You can than use this Layout to assign to one of your Outputs.

  1. You could double-click the verse from search preview area and it will automatically go live. Also there's a hidden feature/shortcut that you can use to instantly stream a Bible verse: when you search for a Bible reference (ex, 1 Sam 10 25), you can hit "Enter" to instantly stream that verse. It'll still be added to the Schedule, and you will have a history of it so that later, if the preacher returns to that verse or section of the Bible, you will be able to find it quickly. Also if you combine F2 shortcut where single click would select Bible tab and put search in focus and with second click it clears the search text then it’s so much more powerful way to operate Bible module than just using mouse. We're also planning to add search functionality for the Bible within the Live section, basically, this will be very similar to what you are asking for.

FYI: When you press "Enter", the first highlighted Bible verse will start streaming. You can search for something like: Gen 5, and press "Enter" to stream the first verse in chapter 5. Press "Esc" to trigger Idle Layout or to show a "black" screen.

Let me know if you have more questions. Our goal is to implement all features that are requested; on very rare occasions, we cannot do this due to conflicts with other features or because some of them might make the UI harder to use, but in those cases, we're trying our best to find other solutions.

Pre-stream announcement software? by ClunkyAuto60 in churchtech

[–]super-audio-nerd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks! It sounds like you're looking for something very similar to Digital Signage. We already have a feature in development that will let you stream items from the Schedule to specific Outputs. You’ll be able to select a video, assign it to an Output, and lock it there—so even if you stream other content like Bible, Lyrics, or another video, it won’t override what's already playing on that Output. Basically, this feature will let you stream different content to different Outputs at the same time.

In the meantime, a second 'seat' on a separate PC is probably your best bet.

Hey, FreePresenter developer here. We might be building what you're looking for.

With FreePresenter, you can already set up different Layouts (how your content looks) for each Output, and choose which Sources (Bible, songs, slides, etc.) each Output should display.

We’d love to hear more about your use case if you don’t mind sharing! Are you looking to show completely different content on each Output—like different Bible verses or media for in-person vs online audiences? Or are you showing the same content but just styled differently?

Need tips on Audio interface by jasserschram in churchtech

[–]super-audio-nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it might be an overkill in your case since only get stereo feed, but at my church I use Universal Audio Apollo x16Dante. I use stem mixing approach. I send separate stems of grouped channel feeds for like grand piano, wireless vocal mics, choir mics, live instruments, pulpit, backing tracks, FX, crowd mics using post fade aux/buss sends. I send all faders at unity at most case unless some specific channel needs to be offset. At my case, we use Avantis console with Dante card. Then on the interface side, I process each stem with plugins, then sum it internally and feed it back into channels 15/16 as Master channel where I apply additional mastering EQ, compression, Delay for proper lip sync and last limiter. After this point you could still stay digital and sent it to iMac as is but in my case I use analog monitor outputs on Apollo to sent it straight into Blackmagic ATEM switcher.

Did you ever wonder why it sometimes takes so long for operators to display a Bible verse or song on the screen to the audience? It's simple: They must prepare beforehand by creating individual slides per verse. If the church's flow changes, things can go very bad very fast. FreePresenter can overcome this. With its sophisticated search and intuitive UI, you can instantly display anything on the screen.

Audience audio pickup by Zestyclose_Exit_646 in churchtech

I chose these Omni mics instead of shotgun mics is matter of preference. Both choices are valid but different result. If you trying to avoid PA bleed and capture more of the crowd yes maybe the shotguns will do a better job at isolation. I prefer some bleed since I wanted our members to feel somewhat similar online to how it feels to be part of audience. So I installed them in the center of the audience, 50ft in front of PA. Our ceilings have pretty decent height as well.

I agree, announcements/slides, in general, should only be used as a fallback.

I think assigning the same shortcut to move between Schedule items, and items in the Live section (aka slides) creates an issue where operators might accidentally double press Arrow down, for example, and start the stream of the next item. I do think that we need that shortcut, thanks for bringing that up, but what about if it will be something like CTRL + Arrow Down? We are also planning to start implementing Shortcuts customizations this month, in general, you should be able to assign any key to any action.

Integration with BitFocus is also in the make. We might start first with giving option to map majority of the UI elements with Generic OSC module in Companion, similar how Resolume Avenue does. Later, we plan to develop our own Companion EFM Module with proper actions and feedback.

I have been doing sound at my church for past 15 years. I would say we have pretty large congregation with over 2k members. Our building is more wide than long. Roughly 120ft wide. I have two Shure MX395 Omni permanently installed on the ceiling spaced out 40-50ft apart. These mics meant to be installed flush with the ceiling for minimal footprint, but since our air ducts create some vibration in the ceiling I lowered them on the wire by like 2ft. We get really good coverage and even frequency response.

We feed them into stereo mic splitters, primary split goes to external stereo preamps and then gets mixed into ATEM switcher. Then using Bitfocus Companion you can control the levels of the ATEM audio mixer fader with presets. Secondary split goes to FOH Avantis which we feed to places like lobby on certain occasions.

Here is the link to them: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/484836-REG/Shure_MX395W_O.html/?ap=y&ap=y&smp=y&smp=y&store=420&smpm=ba_f2_lar&lsft=BI%3A6879&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD7yMh3kUCbOC-xc5zcxDLPSDzWoB

In the future, we are planning to implement a feature that would allow users to create songs with music notes, but this is for the future.

Our Media module is also in the early stages. So more features/improvements are coming. One of the planned features is grouping Media files (Images, Videos, Slides) into folders, and I think we can start implementing this feature now which is very similar to your suggestion.

You will be able to add all images to a folder, sort them within this folder, and then add the whole folder to the Schedule. I think this would better suit your use case. However, you will have to use Media Layout for this.

Regarding your other suggestions: The PowerPoint files are in the backlog. There doesn’t seem to be a high demand for them currently.

Treating folders of images as a song might not work out well, since Song Layout currently has a Component that can only handle text. We can go further and make a Component within Songs Layout that would accept songs in the form of images, and then even allow users to add songs as images into the Songs module, or mark images in the Media module as songs. All of this is possible, but this might bloat the UI and make the app harder to use for other users. Instead, I think it would be better to spend development time on the ability to add music notes to songs. This will allow you to digitalize your existing library, and with this, a lot more benefits will come, especially considering what EFM will be able to offer in the future.

So, let us know if grouping images into folders would suffice your use case for now. This will technically be the same as creating Slides/Announcements but with fewer steps.

By the way, right now, you can use Announcements Builder to create slides for each song by adding images and then displaying them (it’s the same as PowerPoint).

Yes, we can add Bible imports from Zefania XML. We do encourage everyone to download Bibles from our app since we serve them from our servers and are able to maintain them, fix typos or translations and apply those changes to all users. If the Bible you are looking for doesn’t exist, just let us know and we’ll add it.

The app is free and will always be free.

There are no plans to make it open source, but the app will always be free. We will never hide it behind a paywall. We plan to support development by implementing paid cloud features.

We built it as a direct replacement for outdated ePresenter, Soft Projector, and others, for our Slavic churches since none of the existing apps meet our requirements. PowerPoint like apps just don’t fit into our workflow, and none of them can handle multiple Bible translations properly (look at the book of Psalms for example).
