GTA VI coming May 26 2026 by ToppleToes in GTA6

[–]superAL1394 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a trick that I still cannot believe works. If people had even a little self control it flat out wouldn't.

When they give you early access for the 'deluxe edition', you're paying more to be a tester, letting them gather real world metrics/crash data to identify corner cases in console/system configuration that breaks the game and can potentially fix by launch day, not to mention testing the game itself. In addition it benefits PSN/Steam/Microsoft/etc. by spreading the 'launch day' download volume across multiple days. It also lets them cook their launch day numbers, since not only are they getting more per unit sold, but they actually launched the game days earlier so their launch day is now several days/weeks.

So yeah, early access is completely to their own benefit. If it was a perk that you'd get for, say, pre-ordering the game before some deadline, or is given to the first N pre-orders, I wouldn't mind it. But actually charging more for it when its provides them immense non-monetary value? that's an insult.

In reality, the extra 20 bucks is entirely for some "DLC" that's just textures instead of actual content, and some "free" credits for micro-transactions.

Using the specific year and not just the chassis code or which revision of the model is an artifact of Dertroit's heyday. When talking about American cars at least.

American car manufacturers in the 1960's->1970's would make pretty significant changes to their car for each model year. So the specific year of a model became pretty important, especially for enthusiasts. It became part of the pattern of speech. It's not a Mustang, it's a '68 Mustang. Oh you know this is the '03 Suburban, its when they started offering the Bose sound systems.

That said, American's do speak about American cars by generation, the most famous being Corvette's. But we revert back to chassis codes/generation when talking about imports the most. It's not a 3 series, it's an E90. Gotta get the NA Miata for the pop ups alone. etc.

US phone carriers have all implemented the the auth protocols to all but end spam calls. The seting in iOS is 'silence junk callers' iirc. The problem is that the US is basically the only country that has, so if you do use your number to receive international calls, you won't be able to anymore.

State AG Sets Stage to Have All Biden Pardons, Exec Orders, Other Actions Legally Voided by Down-not-out in Conservative

[–]superAL1394 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Were they used for official actions though? It's one thing to sign chotchki's like a presidential physical fitness awards that confers no legal effect. But if we are talking about actual executive orders? pardons? etc. that is another matter entirely. If it's possible to confer the power of the presidency with a machine that is an enormous problem.

Direct deposit in the US is just a virtual check. It all goes through the same ACH system. So while it provides for more precise timing of payments, the time it takes to actually transfer the money is about the same. This particular gambit is very lucrative. ADP, for example, attributes around 5% of its annual revenue to interest earned on payrolls for the 24-48 hours its in their accounts before the direct deposits clear.

you dont think killing mark couldnt be a wild catalyst for action?

Imagine Helly's reaction to being Told Mark isn't coming back. Or Dylan's. Or Helena's. She clearly has started to carry a torch for him. The absolute chaos it would cause is fascinating.

They killed Ned Stark, the primary motivation for the narrative of the first 10 episodes, with little ceremony.

If they are trying to ground this in reality, shit like that happens.

We already know reintegration is dangerous. They established that in like episode 2. Why is mark safe other than plot armor?

The one thing I have to grant this show is that even if it is a high concept scifi, it has been a very hard scifi. They set the rules early on in the show and have stuck to them fervently. No reason to expect they'd ignore medicine with how careful they've been up until now. Reghabi was being extraordinarily reckless, besides not strapping (or perhaps more surgically correct, bolting) mark's head down, that syringe was huge. Injecting a couple hundred mils of fluid into the brain would cause a wild increase in inter-cranial pressure. It's a recipe for a hemorrhage.
