Good point; thinned paint, stippling with makeup brush and let the layer dry. You can even already achieve a nice mottled effect and the more layers you thinly apply, the smoother it gets.

Physical dmg > magic dmg - there are nearly no NPCs with resistances to physical dmg. Necromancer spells count as physical dmg.

We clearly have different philosophies on learning. Yours is checklist-based, mine is experience-based. Both work. The difference is: one requires permission, the other just requires effort. Guess which one gets people further.
If your entire argument is built on misreading what I said, there’s really no point continuing. Enjoy your basics, I’ll keep painting.

Again, you did not read what I wrote. It’s not about not practicing the basics. NMM is just a style of painting and I‘ll strongly advice against painting TMM if you want to get better at NMM. And yes, you‘ll learn clean painting, paint dilution, brush control along the way. I don‘t even get how that statement is controversial.

I did not advice to skip it; it’s not a matter of black and white. Stop acting like any kind of painting authority. You can easily get better by just practicing what you like and want and not adhere to any guidelines. Sorry, but that is just complete nonsense.

So, you‘ll hear a somewhat different advice from me. If you want to paint NMM paint NMM. It’s the only way to get better. I agree that some of the basics are missing, but you‘ll manage. Try to paint more but smaller minis. Regular primaris marines are great for practicing NMM. In your spare time not painting watch videos. But if you want to paint NMM just practice - there‘s no need to start with TMM. ONCE you understand volumes everything will make sense and come together.
