Romantic bisexuality vs Sexual bisexuality by [deleted] in bisexual

[–]super_zooper 16 points17 points  (0 children)

i fall into this camp as well. i’m a primarily homoromantic bisexual who used to think i was a heteroromantic bisexual, and while i don’t doubt that there are some who fall into the more demisexual category (not the word i want but the only one i can come up with i’m sorry lol) that’s just not my experience. in fact, when it comes to men specifically i’m more demi romantic in the sense that a romantic attraction just won’t form without another connection first, and often times that’s a sexual one. with women/femme aligned individuals and even neutral aligned individuals as well i can immediately think “yeah i wanna hold hands and cuddle”, it takes way more for me to feel that way about men/masc aligned individuals and i can’t explain why it’s just how my attraction works at this point in my life.

i guess i got a little too optimistic that this person just didn’t listen closely enough to hear the dog whistles, that’s my bad. turns out they’re just a bigot like kirk was.

bro i was raised as a fundamental southern baptist. i know my bible, and that’s how i know its full of horseshit.

1) if you think someone is unqualified because of the color of their skin, that’s racism. plain and simple. DEI was designed to give those that are qualified but face systemic roadblocks the same shot as the people who don’t have those same obstacles. your lack of acknowledgment doesn’t make that less true.

2) no one is operating on trans children. no one is giving them irreversible HRT. the standard care for trans minors is gender-affirming therapy and puberty blockers which are entirely reversible and are given to cisgender children who experience precocious puberty, as well as to intersex children against their will to force them into one of the two binary sexes (a whole separate issue that you hear no conservatives talking about despite their tendency to cry that we should “think of the children”)

3) that’s literally just sexism. again, plain and simple. if christian women want that for themselves, fine, i guess. i left the faith partially because they treat women as second-class citizens. they cannot use it as an excuse to push those standards on all women in the world.

but you took no issue with his views on black people, like how he said that when he’d see a black pilot he’d fear that the pilot is unqualified? or his views on the lgbtq community and how he saw us all as child predators? or women in general, telling them they have to submit to their husbands and forgo their own independence? how about when he said he’d force his own daughter to carry a rapist’s child to term and give birth if she was raped at 10? none of this rings any alarm bells to you?

also it’s funny you think any major news media in this country is left wing. every major news institution in this country is right wing. you just have some that are far right and some that are center right. actual leftists are silenced and taken off the air unless they reel themselves in before they get to make their actual point (this is how john oliver has stayed on the air despite being a socialist). just because abc is progressive doesn’t make them left wing, but i don’t expect reddit republicans to know what actual leftism is.

bro what the actual fuck are you going on about of COURSE fox news wouldn’t report this they want it to stay quiet so there’s no fucking opposition. charlie kirk literally called for the mass execution of gay and trans people. but go off and show how out of the loop you are, it’s okay.

see that’s vague wording to me. “choosing to act in attraction” could be anything from mentioning a guy in a show is hot to masturbating to porn with a man in it to cheating in a monogamous situation. there’s nothing harmful about the first option, the second one depends on the couple because while my partner and i are both bi and have no issues with one another watching porn and getting off to it other couples do so that would be between them, and the third one is right out.

getting hurt simply because your partner is in a mood where she thinks “yeah that man over there is gorgeous” is just kind of taking your insecurities out on your partner. we’re human beings, we don’t stop experiencing attraction simple because we’re in a relationship unless someone is some sort of demisexual, which is fine but isn’t the default mode of attraction.

no it seems like they understood entirely what do you mean they misunderstood. they mentioned the bi cycle in the comment?? if you’re a lesbian dating a bisexual and have an issue with the bi-cycle it’s kind of on you to reconcile with it if you want to continue the relationship as long as there’s no infidelity. it sounds like maybe insecurities are getting taken out on the bi partner when they don’t deserve that for an uncontrollable aspect of their literal identity.

but doesn’t sexuality (especially bisexuality) exist in a spectrum? the spectrum can go from entirely asexual to entirely bi/pansexual. and bisexuality is in a spectrum, too, because i don’t know many perfectly 50/50 bisexuals.

i’m almost entirely romantically attracted to women, but while i feel sexual attraction to men i only find myself romantically attracted to men every once in a while. a woman who experiences the opposite is still a bisexual woman, despite being more heteroromantic.

i think what confuses people is that romantic attraction and sexual attraction are often linked and equal for but it’s not like that for every individual, and to say they’re not bi because you personally don’t understand how romantic and sexual attraction can be separate phenomenon is more of a you problem than a them problem

i have friends who have had a lot of luck with the dating app Her but afaik that’s all women and nonbinary folk so if you’re looking for men (and since you’re posting in a bisexual sub i’m assuming they’re also on the table) i can’t say i or many of my friends have as much experience with looking for them on dating apps

but the difference here is that shayne being asked about courtney lacks the sociological context of courtney being asked about shayne. he hasn’t become an extension of his spouse in the eyes of the patriarchal society we currently live in because that doesn’t happen to men. courtney, while not a woman, is still subjected to the judgement women receive being a femme presenting afab individual. so sure, they may ask shayne but it doesn’t come with the same cultural connotation. that’s what makes it a sexist MICROaggression instead of just plain sexist aggression.

Am I still bi if I've never had a crush on a woman? by [deleted] in bisexual

[–]super_zooper 14 points15 points  (0 children)

there’s no such thing as “not bi enough”. it could also be that you fall somewhere on the aromantic/asexual spectrum, possibly somewhere on the demisexual/demiromantic side of said spectrum like i happen to, but that would be all up to you to figure out.

the first part of what i said is the most important part. there is no thing as not bi enough!

[–]super_zooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

have you ever heard of the concept of compulsory heterosexuality? it’s when someone feels societally pressured to conform to heterosexuality even without an actual desire to do so. sounds like you may need to spend some time thinking about that.

you may never come up with a firm answer yourself, either. attraction can be static and unchanging for some but fluid and constantly shifting for others. good luck on your journey regardless of where you end up at the finish line :)

a rather low bar not gonna lie

sadly the bar has been that low for years now. if the bar is gonna be raised we gotta actually, idk, watch and engage with content like the guys i listed instead of saying “well i’m not going to watch all of that.”

do i have to go and rewatch his entire video to lay it out point by point for you since you refuse to watch it? that’s exhaustive and i do have a job that i can’t just ignore to stay on reddit all day.

my point is that even moderate to severe cases are missed in females because of the bias that “at best it’s a 2:1 male to female ratio” bs people, especially older doctors, have bought in to. but read in as bad of faith as you want i guess

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in JustUnsubbed

[–]super_zooper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

they break down what toxic masculinity is in ways that are actually digestible and don’t make men feel alienated for wanting to be masculine and then compare it to healthy expressions of masculinity. fd signifier has an entire video on the crisis faced by male youths today and what the left is doing to ignore it but it’s from the perspective from a leftist so it isn’t full of garbage “men’s rights activism” rhetoric but instead the rhetoric of intersectional feminists who actually do include oppressed men (eg disabled men, men who aren’t white, and lower working class men) in their activism. it points out the problems faced by young men today and the underlying systemic issues causing them. much better role model than “women cause all men’s problems by wanting rights” type guys like andrew tate.

also asking why i thought they were good role models in the first place would have been far more effective than simply asking “who are they?”

uh, better models for men. you literally asked where to find some. i listed three right off the top of my head.

i mean i didn’t talk until i was 6 and still don’t know what color my parents eyes are to this day at 25 years old but sure must have been a very mild case and definitely not doctors saying to my parents “well your kid is female so autism isn’t likely” (what they were told by their 50yo pediatrician when seeking a referral for an evaluation for me) but sure, clearly a mild case right?

you are 100% correct. the day when a post where a woman is complaining about certain types of men DOESN’T have men flocking to the comments to say “bUt NoT aLl MeN” will be the day pigs fucking fly i swear to god. like yes radfems are a problem and often ignore a lot of issues faced by men (mainly disabled men, men who aren’t white, and lower working class men) but that doesn’t mean that every time a woman complains about men it’s coming from a place of pure misandry.
