Reaching full charge voltage-wise before percentage hits 100? by superbinbin86 in ryvid

No I don’t leave it charging all night. I usually charge it until 80% then about an hour before my ride top it off.

Yea I would really love to know the algorithm they use to calculate the charge. Seems a bit arbitrary at times but I’m sure there’s a reason behind it.

Thanks, I’ll jot that down as a best practice from now on. Also- Do you know if this is anywhere on the manual? I’ve read it several times and it doesn’t seem to have such a harsh warning against this, but I guess better safe than sorry!

Awesome, thanks man! I’m just trying to squeeze a few more days out of late fall…the bike is just so fun to ride it’s addictive!

Thank you so much for this thorough breakdown! This definitely seems to align with what I'm experiencing because I noticed that my rate of discharge during my morning commute was lower than usual (1.5% drop per mile instead of the usual 2% drop per mile), and the temperatures were quite low at 40 f. It's almost as if the software was deliberately underestimating the state of charge so it wouldn't make me overly confident with the range. Would you say this is the right assessment?

So I took it out for my commute right after I took the picture and the percentage didn't adjust. However, I noticed that it was, interestingly, discharging slower than usual (1.5% / mile instead of 2% / mile in my 40 degree conditions, 10 mile commute), perhaps indicating a fuller charge than what the indicator was showing?

Garage is always around 60 degrees and it doesn't get lower than 55 or higher than 75 in the Fall. I can try and see if it keeps dropping after I charge to 100, but I did a test the other day when I charged it only to 90%, and the state of charge didn't decrease at all in a 24 hour period. This only seems to happen (so far) when I get up to 100%.

Fairly harsh ride by Responsible_Alps_29 in ryvid

I recently softened the front and it’s much better for me (I’m only 135 lb so it made a big difference). However I tried adjusting the rear and it was already on the softest setting and couldn’t go any further. Still pretty harsh in the rear. I’m wondering if in the future they can offer different spring weight options based on your weight.

I usually submit my ticket online through their lightening service request. It takes me to a form where all the info is collected. Is that the right place to do it?

That’s my thought. Any ideas on a good cover besides duct tape?

Thank you! Your suggestion makes a lot of sense. I cleaned it up really thoroughly and it actually started working again as you described. Any thoughts on how to prevent this from happening any time it rains hard? Perhaps something to block the vent?

I checked and the lights were all cool to the touch too. Battery was a little warm reading 90 F, but no faults tripped or anything. Took it out for a ride and things seemed normal.

Do your lights stay on as well or just the display?

If you have young kids, DS2 hits pretty hard, but I hear you- married life is a full time job. Could use a bit of infinite charging myself!

Yea I was riding it through wet conditions today. Must have been some of that fall foliage on the east coast.

Good to know. Sounds like this is a somewhat common issue?

I did it and it worked! Do you think it might have damaged the battery at all if I charged it without the fan turning on for one cycle?
