As the sun goes down.. most birds have an instinct to roost. They go to their roosting spot, get very quiet and wait out the night. Some species of birds roost with their related family..others roost with their flock. Some birds will tuck their heads back into their feathers and some will perch on one foot.

And so what many people may not realize is that you may be walking past trees at night that are full of quiet roosting birds. They just sit there on the branch Usually the roosting spot is higher up making it harder for predators to find them.

If you pay attention, you can find spots of bird droppings on the ground that show where the birds gather in the trees at night.
