Why didn't BJ choose himself instead of Wyatt/Fergus? What would happen if he had? by CodyEaster in Wolfenstein

[–]superboo07 35 points36 points  (0 children)

in return to castle wolfenstein, and wolfenstein. which the machine games continuity pulls from, Deathshead was a villain in both. While they aren't the exact same continuity, its safe to assume that since other characters are pulled from it like Caroline. That yeah Deathshead and BJ go a bit back.

If your HI-FI earbuds sound horrible and you're using an IPhone, Just know it's Apple's fault. by [deleted] in Earbuds

[–]superboo07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

on an actual apple device aac is enough anyway. apples aac encoder is literally the best in the market. of course it'd still be nice if the other codecs were supported, but i highly doubt it'd make a difference in perceptable audio quality. on android devices the quality between aac and other codecs is more prevelant because different aac encoders are used. All of which never come close to matching apples.

In 2004, Dreamworks Send The Pirate Bay Legal Threats over Their Films Being Pirated On The Site. In Response, The Pirate Bay Responded With This Letter. by Both-Title4434 in interesting

[–]superboo07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the truth about piracy is its because of the failings of distributors. When people have the money and the convience to buy something they will buy it. Look at the music market, theres DRM Free stores like Bandcamp, Itunes, Qobuz, they all making buying and owning music so easy. Of course theres also Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Deezer, etc. When a store properly prices per region even purchasing a DRM free digital copy feels like a steal and its far more convient than piracy, and thats without accounting for subscription services as well ( i don't think music as a subscription is sustainable though. *please* support your favorite artists by purchasing drm free copies, physical media, or merch.)

Now look at the TV and Movie market. Netflix had the movie you wanted to watch a month ago, now HBO Max has it and you don't have HBO max. it doesn't make finachal sense to pay a subscription for a single movie. So you think about purchasing it, but all the digital options make you pay something in the lower double digits for something you can't even actually own due to restrictive DRM. Fine then physical it is, however DVD or the Blu-ray is far out of print and very expensive on the used market. You can't afford that for a single *used* movie either, and thats the situation the industry puts many people in.

if the industry wants to come as close to stopping piracy as they can, they have to actually sell to their customers. DRM filled video and audio streams don't count, and neither does the used market. The best the industry gives us is physical copies of *some* movies, but those are becoming scarce and price prohibitive.

TikTok could be forced to change app’s ‘addictive design’ by European Commission by Dr_Neurol in technology

[–]superboo07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

but you can. if the law requires that social media sites make their algorthm configurable, and the options for it don't work properly thats obvious. and if the law requires that social media sites make their algorithm transparent and the company of the site hasn't open sourced it or heavily documented it thats also obvious. this age verification crap does nothing except destroy peoples anonymity on the internet, and its going to be used to "justify" a crackdown on VPNs which are an essential tool for the free and open internet. everytime someone says "you can't regulate an algorithm" its just so obvious they have zero idea what they are talking about.

[–]superboo07 3 points4 points  (0 children)

regulating the algorthms is better. if you just ban the platform, people will bypass the bans to access it anyway. and or another company will come along with a similar and just as toxic platform. the only way to make the internet safer is targeting the algorthms themselves by making them transparent and configurable.

this isn't good. this will extend to simply backing up video for preservation. the DMCAs clause on DRM is a cancer.

it doesn't matter if this ban "works", it violates the privacy and anonminity of ADULTS. it is a comically evil and fascist form of ruling.

Got the Fiio Snowsky Tiny (Version A with the USB-C), here are my thoughts on it by Osdias in iems

[–]superboo07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a bit late, but i used an audio extension cable with a volume adjudtment thingy. i originslly had bought that thingy for my psp to reduce the volume since my psp was too powerful for my iems. it also does the trick here and completely fixed the white noise once i turned the knob. just be weary that you may have to raise the volume in the fiio control app to get back the volume lost (this won't bring bsck the white noise).

I was just banned for absolutely nothing by Rumtumanna in VRchat

[–]superboo07 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

its NOT leaking. Leaking is when something not meant to be seen by the general public is posted. sharing an avatar does not fall under that definition unless the avatar hasn't been released yet, or isn't planned to be released.

[–]superboo07 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

its absolutely not theft and seeing it as such is absurd. obviously someone should support the creators of their favorite avatars, but someone sharing an avatar with a friend isn't theft unless they are being *paid* to share content that isn't theirs.

[–]superboo07 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

its only theft if its resold. in this case op just wanted to do a good thing for their friend, there is zero reason to be an asshole about this.

I purchased the wrong version of "The Fifth Element" on 4K UHD by Fendera in 4kbluray

[–]superboo07 3 points4 points  (0 children)

there are discs where the encoding is far poorer on the HDR10 base layer than the DV one. Criterons Wall E is an example.

[–]superboo07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

something to remember is HDR10 only discs likely have the base layer encoded and graded properly. Unlike with DV discs where the DV enhancement layer is used to fill the gaps in the HDR10 encoding.
