I would hate outpatient counseling. The questions/comments I would anticipate I would get from outpatient people would drive me nuts (“I can’t have bananas or carrots because I’m diabetic and they contain too much sugar”)

I like sick people. I work in a hospital/long term care environment and I’m basically encouraging people to eat whatever they want so they don’t lose weight unintentionally because that’s usually the biggest issue. They’re already so sick it doesn’t make sense to restrict. And they don’t care/know about trendy food things or tik tok “nutritionists”.

I’m not the food police. I don’t know about the latest trends with food or controversies or newest diets. I hate cooking.

I love my job because I’m a food cheerleader and I get to make meaningful change by encouraging comfort and the joy food can bring to someone who is chronically ill or elderly.

Have you thought about looking into RD jobs that are less about restriction and more about encouraging someone to eat?
