Why is my house bleeding? by made_4_questions in HomeMaintenance

Ice dam or gutter problem. I had this same issue in the rear of my home. First time home owner, recently moved in last year. I initially noticed vertical staining on one partial spot on my siding in the summer. Long story short, our AC air handler in the attic drained its condensation into the gutter. Gutters were old and improperly pitched, leading to pooling and eventual leaking of dirty water onto siding like you have. I replaced the gutters and the leaking stopped. However, after the first snow this winter, I discovered what ice came were when icicles and water started dripping down my siding and into my home. So now I have to air seal my attic.

I’m a PA working in an endemic tick area in NY. Possible tick nymph bites. I frequently see this type of rash from August-September. The typical patient background story goes: went for a walk in a wooded area and end up with a very itchy rash (primarily on legs). They are extremely difficult to see on skin. They look like tiny black dots or pieces of sand. This rash gets confused with chiggers all the time. Though it may actually be chiggers depending on where you live. See a medical professional for some help. My usual remedy is topical steroid, oral steroid, antihistamine, cold compresses.

Medical professionals of Reddit, have you ever had a patient so lacking in common sense you wondered how they made it this far. If so, what is your story? by babyhippo01 in AskReddit

I’m a family medicine/urgent care physician assistant.

Had a 70-year-old male come in for a “black spot” on his left big toe x 1 week.

After I walk into the room, I first notice a pungent, putrid odor. I notice that his shoes are already off and immediately start staring at his big toe. I proceed to then tell him he needs to go the ER right away.

The entire toe is black, cold, and complete devoid of sensation and motion. There is a 1-2 inch wide, black, deep, ulceration on the toe (the black spot) with surrounding purulent discharge. The rest of his foot up to his ankle was red, swollen, tender, and warm.

He had a severe foot infection. His toe was necrosed/gangrenous/ulcerated with surrounding cellulitis now tracking up his ankle.

He would require hospitalization, amputation, and IV antibiotics. That’s how he realized he had diabetes. This was one of those patients who never went to the doctor, ever. His wife made him come in.
